Radio and Weasel – Kuku
We have featured Ugandan Radio and Weasel on the site before and this is one of the many additions. Check out the first post we had about their hit track Zuena. Here is an excerpt from Leo when he posted the Zuena song. “I am almost compelled to say that Mozey and Weasle are going to give P-Square some true competition – Coz lets face it these cats can sing no matter how you look at it. I am really feeling this dancehall – reggae – upbeat patois (Uganda – or Luganda) uptake on music”.
Radio and Weasel are the “Gucci Manes ” of Ugandan music. It seems they are on everybody’s track. I also get new songs from them every other week and their music portfolio is just too huge to mention. I said before that they are the “group” in East Africa that will be ruling dance floors in a crazy way in 2010. I’m sure once promoters catch on to their music catalog, they will be the group that will be packing arenas and selling out shows across the continent.
Most people have probably jammed to their songs but maybe did not know who they were. Just think about “Nakudata” and “Bread and Butter”.
On this hit track “Kuku”, they show their vocal skills on this dancefloor banger.

KS Alpha Feat Tanto Metro & Devonte- Waistline
I’ve had this track for a couple of months now but the copy we had was not up to GetMziki standards, until the other day when I got a good copy. KS Alpha is a Ugandan dancehall artist who is on a mission to take Ugandan Ragga Dancehall music to the heights of international popularity. KS Alpha has has had tons of hits in Uganda including “Ugandan gal”, “Selector” and his new hit “Muzik”, which I just got a couple of weeks ago.
On this track, they collabo with the Jamaicans Tanto Metro & Devonte who are known for thier smash hits “Everyone Falls In Love” from 1998 and “Give It To Her” from 2001.
The song is about a pretty girl who can wine and move crazy on the dance floor. Its a Tingisha gyal track!!!!!
Enjoy!!!

DJ Mista Trixx – Dallas Memorial Promo Mixtape (GetMziki Exclusive DJ sessions ***)

Ohh Boy! here we go again Dallas Memorial 2010 (it sucks when you have to start a post with Ohh Boy!) but really honestly, I love Dallas and I love the Dallas Community (actually the highest GetMziki Traffic is from Dallas). But Dallas party promotions are normally a whole different beast, especially during memorial weekend. I had the opportunity of going for the Memorial weekend a few years back and as much as I enjoyed myself there were just too many complications and siasa. There were also other events happening in Houston which I wanted to go to but couldn’t because I was caught up with difficulties in making decisions on where to go. The complexities of the promotions involved to capture the audiences in Dallas are just ridiculous sometimes. Although on the flip side its exciting as a consumer to see people go to great lengths to captivate you or to get your attention. Maybe this is the thing they call FAIR BUSINESS, that I have no idea about.
I think gone are the days when I would honestly believe that one day we will actually have one KENYAN party which was prepared by all the promoters in a particular city. Am not even waiting for that to happen, especially after this years Las Vegas Kenyan Parties. I actually thought that dream may have come true, only to realize that there were about 3 different parties in Las Vegas (so it’s not just Dallas I think the Kenyan events circus is all over the US). It usually sucks when your girlfriend wants to go to a TOD event and you want to go to a 2Kat event and your cousin wants to go to a Mdosi event, and your bro is at a DJXP event… all in one night. But hey what do I know – am just a mere consumer trying to look for the best hang to go to.
This year Dallas has some interesting things going on, which I am not at liberty to talk about. However I love music, so putting my bias aside I am inclined to recognize and pay homage to good music and good DJying. Mista Trixx is well known in the community circles but unfortunately he/they Madness crew have never really toured the West Coast so I can’t talk much about his live performance. What I can say is that he is consistent in sending me mixes every quarter and to that I am grateful. Their crew is on the star line up to the (Uhuru Clothing) UC inspired events coming up in Dallas and as such most of these DJ’s involved are working on Mixes and promotional material right now. Over the next few months (MAY IS SO FAAAAAR but guys are already pushing events), be prepared to see and hear a lot of talent coming from the people involved in putting some of these events together. GetMziki claims no particular affiliation and its important for our users to understand that, however whenever we hear a good mix we will always post it – and this my friends is a damn good mix. (Last year we posted the TOD ThanksGiving (XGV) Mixtape one of my US DJ favorites to date). Anyway for anyone making plans to go to Dallas – Enjoy coz its always guaranteed to be muhenjoyos – Women in Dallas are off the chains. Its the one place I can be myself, people there tend not to pull “petho” I think I talked to some chile for an hour in sheng – it was the best thing ever.
For the few who wont make it – enjoy this DJ mix as a blessing.
ps. I added a cheezy Video Trixx put together LOL.

CLD, Raz, Film C, Chikuzee & OHZY – So Nice (GetMziki Exclusive **)

Every now and then we get some new music from Mombasa and this week we’ve been blessed with music from CLD and crew. Actually let me just list all the artists on this track: CLD (Who sang My Video and Soldier), Film C, Chikuzee, Raz and OHTZ. Frankly we have little or no information about few other artists however CLD has been featured on GetMziki through one capacity or the next. CLD performed Mo-Faya with Abbas a while back – it was part of that catchy hook that got Kenya all wrapped around Mo-Faya [watch the video here if you need a refresher]
Otherwise I think this is a promising track, give it a listen.
ps. Although this whole attempt at singing in NAIJA I dont know. Before I spill my beans just listen to this track and let me know what you think..

Nonini Feat Mahatma, Frasha, Bonnie, Gabu and Chidi Benz – Kadhaa (Remix)

I will start off this weeks mixtape Friday, with Nonini’s Kadhaa remix. This song is not new (It came out last year in July last year), but the video just came out this week and someone hit me up asking for this track. The Remix features Mahatma, Frasha, Bonnie, Gabu and Chidi Benz. I cannot really say too much about this song since it’s a hot track!!!!. One thing I promised myself is that in 2010 I will let some songs talk to the readers and listeners. The crazy and great punchlines from all the artists are just too many for me to mention but I gotta say that Mahatma and Frasha killed it crazy!!!!!!.
Mahatma did it for me when he says “Sijaona kitu ya bure tangu maziwa ya Nyayo”.
Nonini has also embraced the net really well in terms of pushing his music. and videos. Like he always says ‘Big Idea”. Check out what he wrote on his youTube page about the video
“Another Pro Habo/ Big ideas joint…..actually we did this video as a joke! We were shooting Chidi’s video for chaguo langu and since he was in town, nonini and willie came up with this simple concept of Kadhaa remix. Why not shoot the video while the boys are chilling watching the original on a back ground screen. INITIALLY this video wasnt meant for tv but it came out so superbly we decided why not release it on air…..The boys kama kawa out did themselves big up kila mtu ule ali contribute to this project! Big up Mash Auto for hooking us up with the LIMO!….”

Nikki – Am Leaving

We posted this song the same day it came out of the kitchen but its been stuck on our homepage with other songs which we don’t normally feel like writing stuff about. However I’ve been going back and forth with one of the DJ’s here at GetMziki so I figured I would post it, post the instrumental and then put my two cents about my recent argument with the DJ/Producer who I was arguing with.
Let me make one thing clear before I say how I really feel – Musyoka and I talk a lot (the producer of this track). Nikki and I are also fairly good friends, so any criticism here is nothing that I am scared off short of Musyoka and Nikki Making a Diss track he he he he. I say it as it is with no French toast in between, mostly because I respect and love these two folks – we’ve known each other for long.
To me the first time I heard this track I was like damn thats a heavy beat – its tight, who produced that? Then I looked at the credits and saw Musyoka. I felt as though Musyoka had changed his style and is going POP – the song sounded too Western and too Hiphop Young Jeezy-ish. I still feel its too Western/Urban. I don’t find this a strong part of Musyokas production technique, and I have told him this on numerous occasions. But I respect the fact that a producer at times will want to venture out of his comfort zone and try something new, which to this argument this wasn’t the right artist to venture out and challenge that conventional reality. Nikki is an okay singer – actually I prefer her singing style to many other Kenyan artists but I am constantly asking myself if its time for her to switch it up! (am not saying her career is done, I am saying I have often felt her style needs to be switched up or changed up to something more current, more mature, more in-line with the people she grew up with, like I thought Nikki should have been part of the whole Imekubaliwa movement… but thats another story)
Nikki has been singing for a while so for me to make this statement its not like its unprecedented (I’ve voiced my opinions about her singing on this blog frequently in the past), I mean I used to watch her perform “Mapenzi Tele” back in the day so I feel like I am a large part of her success and growth… (ohhh boy I get so emotional talking about Nikki)… There are days I feel like the whole singing in English is just not – an us thing – its not an authentic African-ness, its not authentic Afrosoul – Genge – Kapuka – or whatever Kenyan Music Genre we want to put this music into. To me once you start singing and rapping in English it means I need to compare your flow to an American artists and thats just where the sadness comes in. For the few artists who can pull it off and get away with it like STL – let them be merry, but to the few who just havent had the opportunity of adopting the language and the swag that comes with singing and rapping in Kimombo! please just let it go. Nikki is borderline with this style, she almost gets away with it but to me I prefer it when she adds Swahili or some other dialect in her music.
So in continuation or to sum up the argument I was having with one of the DJs last weekend here is my summary.
- NO I don’t think this is a good song, I think the beat is cool but its not a song I would play in a club nor is it a song I would want to listen to over and over again. It’s just okay.
- YES I think Nikki can sing, but I think she should stay focused on the “Hii Ngoma” and other “Niwe wako” and “Mapenzi Tele” but I accept the fact that in your album you will always have one spirited song and this possibly was the song that she wanted to be inspired by.
- NO I don’t think Musyoka will agree with anything I have written here and even if he does he won’t openly admit it.
- NO I don’t think Nikki will respond to this post either (lol)
Thats my take…
For the DJ heads eat your heart out on this Musyoka instrumental – enjoy

R2Bees Feat Wande Coal – Kiss Your Hand

One of my Nigerian connects hit me up the other day and sent me this song saying it was doing crazy numbers in the clubs in Nigeria. I did not know anything about R2bees and on checking their website discovered they were from Ghana and that the song was also big in Ghana making it a Ghana/Naija banger.
CR2Bees is a Ghanaian hip-hop/hiplife group made up of Faisal Hakeem (Paedae da Pralem) and Rashid Mugeez (Mugeez). They are part of a group of young musicians doing a style called GH Rap. The word R2Bees (R2 Bees) comes from the group’s mantra which is ‘Refuse to be broke’, refusing to be broke is not a crime (Courtesy of Museke).
“Kiss Your Hand” is one of those 125BPM tracks that are ruling the dance floors and charts across the world. My own personal opinion of the track is that it’s an OK song. I wanna know what people think of “Kiss My Hand”.
Enjoy!!!!

Alpha feat Mejja – Jeshi Ni La Genge (GetMziki Exclusive****)
Update: When we published this hit last week we included Madtraxx on the track, however Madtraxx is not on this track, this track only features Mejja and Alpha. Sorry for the error
We recently got tons of new records from Calif records and we are slowly shifting and listening to the tracks (Yeah, we do share the tracks among the team and slowly take days listening and marinating on the songs). One of the tracks “Maida Feat Laudy” was just posted by Leo a couple of days ago. On that same breath, big shout outs to Leo for coming through with the graphics above. Iko!!!!
We get tons of songs a day from artists, producers, managers and record companies and we really try and showcase what we believe is good quality music, that represent Africa. I won’t lie, when we first got this track from our contacts (U know who u are hehehe), the label on the track was wrong and as such I skipped on the track, but when I listened to it finally, I realized it was a Mejja, Mad Traxx and Alpha song. Do I need to say more!!!!!
I will not say too much about this track, since the track breath’s for itself. To really appreciate the track listen to the lyrics please. I wanna find out what people out there think of the song. On a side note, when is Mejja debut album coming out!!!!!. The tracks I have from Mejja are more than 15 which is enough for an album nowadays. I know Mad Traxx is finally releasing his album this year and their 2 albums should definitely take Kenyan musical standards to higher heights.
For those who cannot wait for Mejja’s album you can listen to a “Mejja Street Album Promotional Mix” we did With Dan Mixa last year in July.

Madtraxx feat Porgie, DJ Stylez, Frasha, Prezzo, Sanaa, Collo, Bamzigi, Nameless, Amp.. – Big Shot (Remix) (GetMziki Exclusive ***)

image courtesy – MADTRAXX FB – Creative GetMziki
Let me make a few things clear – there is a track thats being held hostage by me called GET DOWN by MADTRAXX that track is fire. I was given to sample the goodness and honestly my hands and fingers are itchy to release it. Madtraxx composed this track sometime last year but its part of his upcoming album so he asked as to “please” hold it for a moment while they wrap up the album – but that NGOMA is FIYAAAAH.
SIDE NOTE: Madtraxx, I heard that track on a mix DJ Joe put together, am beginning to feel very un-exclusive George, and thats not a good thing ..*smiles* // I thought GetMziki was a “Big Deal”
Moving right along – it seems this is the month of the mega remixes. It may appear everyone is trying to out do the other with how many artists you can get on a remix. Rumor has it this track had so many heavy weights that the original song was actually TEN minutes long. CodeRed then decided to cut the track down in order to keep it radio worthy. If this is true I would like to get my hands on the original ten minute song, real talk FRANCO and akina LES WANYIKA performed tracks for 13 minutes so whats 10 minutes. Lets sample the goodness and let us make the decisions of who should have stayed and who didnt deserve to be on the track.
My take on this remix – FRASHAAAAAAA!!! He killed it – everyone else wasn’t really necessary, especially Sanaa and Nameless, I mean I get it but nah…these vocalist should have been on their own. Like an R&B version of BIG SHOT… However that FRASHA guy.. WAAA!!… FRASHA killed it, PREZZ came out okay not as powerful as he did in the Chapaa remix. Collo was just okay… BUT BAMZY ha ha ha ha … I cant lie actually if it wasn’t for the fact that I haven’t heard anything from Bamzy for a while I really woulda been like this cat sounds like Bamzy. Getting Bamzy on this track was probably the highlight of the track (and the highlight of my year). I mean I just miss the whole NAZ, Bamzy, Wyre – ama its just me??? I appreciate the fact that he just bared his all, he gets real on the track ” took too much coke now am clean.. I want my old spot” I love that … Bamzy.. congratulations on the recovery.. looking forward to the supermans return…
Anyway listen to this BIG SHOT. THIS IS INDEED A BIG SHOT REMIX –

Maida feat Raudy – Siwezi Kuwa na Wewe (GetMziki Exclusive ***)
Clemo promised to send me pictures and some little bit of info on MAIDA but honestly my fingers were getting antsy and I have fallen in love with this jam for me to ignore. Maida has an awesome voice for Kenya – or for GENGE. He delivery on this track is awesome, I love the whole joint, the swa is not really Sheng and its not really sanifu – but it just worked on this track. Luche also nailed it on the video – the props the gear and the setting. I personally hate too many graphix and effects on music videos, when you use just enough the results are normally astonishing. Like on this video its simple but the bling and glare effect was slightly over done – either way i like the song too much to worry about the video.
Clemo came through yet again on this one. I have a hunch that 2010 Clemo is about to really surprise a lot of folks out there. I mean if you are keen on instruments like I am, you will notice so many extra instruments introduced on this track. There is a flute an accordion on top of the piano harps – its just a tight track I think. I am not sure about Maida in terms of an artists and whether she has a future in the music scene in Kenya. What I do know is if this is her debut – its well delivered and it will be well served.

Ohzy – Tumerauka and Bogeni (GetMziki Exclusive)

The Coast awards nominees were announced a couple of weeks ago and one of the nominees for the “CHIPUKIZI ARTISTE” is Ohzy. Its no secret that the coastal region has a bubbling music industry, with their own radio stations, artists, producers and swag, that you really get to enjoy and appreciate when you visit the town. Ohzy is one of the artist’s from the coast who’s getting mad air play both on radio and video all over the country. Since this is the first time that we are showcasing Ohzy on GetMziki, some bio about him is only right for everybody out there so people can get familiar with him.
Ohzy was in the coastal group the Hotboyz in the mid-2000s and they released their smash “Vumilia,” in 2005 . However, his big break came when Producer Mobiz/Thundersound signed him and released his single “Bongeni” which has been hitting the streets, radio and clubs heavy. On Bogeni, Ohzy goes hard on a simple yet catchy beat for his street anthem. On Tumerauka which features Chikuzee, Ohzy talks about his musical journey and the ups and downs of coming up in the music business.
You will definitely be hearing more from this cat in 2010. His debut album will be released this year and from the songs I’ve heard so far, the album will definitely be worth checking out.
Enjoy!!!!

K-Lynn feat Hermy B – Not a Flirt

First and foremost this is not a new track, it was released some time last year but we are sort of back tracked with hits that we need to push everything out of the door this week so try and keep up. In accordance so some new processes we are trying out at GetMziki I decided to share the content of these song via one of our partners – BongoCelebrity –
The full copy of this information can be found here:
For many years music making in Tanzania has been “coin” oriented practice. A coin In a sense that it is only two sides that are involved to ensure the material reaches the audience. The artist has to compose, write and get in the booth and sing while correcting herself. The producer has to produce the instruments, record, mix and master. This being done for couple of tracks, one is bound to meet some terrible music along the way. Because, no shoulder could handle such huge burden, without compromising its quality of deliverance.
K’Lynn in her comeback she decided to walk the most feared path by many Tanzanian artists, twice. She decided to use foreign language even though she is aware that she might lose her local fans, but she is up for that because she is now focused to represent our music out of our borders. She broke another rule by letting another person write her idea. Tanzanian artist usually consider singing someone else’s words is a sign of weak artistic skills, but she did not care for as long she makes a good music to bring massive impact.
This track has an urban context, a mixture of hip-hop and R n B, easy to penetrate Europe and America market. All English, with little Swahili to identify her origin. It is about a very pretty woman with a massive sex appeal to the extent it makes every male she looks at, feel like she is flirting (giving sexual signals) with them and this makes his boyfriend very jealous, but it is not her fault it is just her looks.

T.I.D (Top In Dar) feat Nazizi – Watasema (GetMziki re-mix challenge)

A few months back we had a challenge for a few DJs to create a remix/mashup off the instrumentals available on GetMziki. I since then forgot that I was to share these findings or results on GetMziki but also more importantly some DJs or producers just did pathetic jobs (pun intended). So there was no need to post anything really. However I was compelled to recognize this particular submission by a guy called Waithaka in Kenya. Truthfully it would be hard for anyone to top off Musyokas original Watasema track. I mean to date I still feel like this has to be one of Musyokas best work EVER – so for you to take these two great artists and put something better on them I dont know….
But Waithaka was up for the challenge, took it by the cojones and made this thing sound tight. I personally think this is a worthy remix. He adhered to Musyoks BPMs added his own harmonies and bass guitars that just seem to make the remix more original than the original. TID’s vocals are always on point (were)… so truthfully without TID’s vocals this track wouldnt be delivered in this way – no way.
I would also like y’all to note that I am posting this because Waithaka created these beats from scratch so it wasn’t really like a DJ Mashup it was more like his version of the remix. Waithaka who runs Waithaka Ent is an avid Musyoka fan – and essentially he picked a track that he felt was Musyokas best. With that said tell me what y’all think of Waithakas creativity..

Prezzo, Wyre, Abbas, Nikki, DNG, Nazizi and Canibal – Chapaa (remix) (GetMziki Exclusive ***)
Normally we would put up an image of the artist and then the feedback, but in this song because there is no logical way to put all these super stars on one image. I will post the video first and then post the track on feedback after the video…
So here goes the video:
And now back to our regular scheduled programming:
Chapaa was Abaas biggest hit I think, produced by super CRUNK producer Tshazi – it was one of those tracks that just hit it big. The lyrical delivery the content and the relevance at the time was inevitable. So when Tshazi told me he had a remix to Chapaa, I honestly was praying that it didn’t really sound so different from the original mix. True to the fact he maintained the same sample but added a few elements here and there making it sound even fresher and dopper (if there is such a word like dope anymore).
Normally a remix is about seeing which artist will kill the record more than the rest and to me this remix was best performed by Prezzo. I mean the audacity of Prezzo’s mouth and lyrics is just overwhelmingly creative. This is one cat who in my opinion doesnt have to rap about things that didnt happen. he doesnt have to rhyme about guns and crime – he just has to rhyme about how he spends money and personally I love it. In his verse he talks about how he hired the Chopper from Wilson to Carnivore (total distance of 1.5Km) he paid 60,000Ksh for that short flight. Then he further goes to talk about how he uses show money to put credit on his phone – he he he I mean really!!! Jay walahi…

Fid Q feat J-Bryant – Danger (GetMziki Exclusive ****)

First and foremost we must apologize for going offline for a few days last week. We over exceeded our traffic capacity and as such the useless hosting company we have decided to take it upon themselves to migrate our services to a better server without really giving us ample notice and or giving us the chance to communicate with our audience.
We don’t expect this to ever happen again so – please sit tight as we consolidate all the music that needs to be pushed out.
Why don’t we start the week off with my man Fareed (Fid Q). This song just dropped last week and its off Fid Q’s upcoming title album called PROPAGANDA. This single is heavy, its sick, it feels like something off a movie soundtrack made in the US. J Bryant kills the hook with sultry echoes and really well composed vocal delivery. I don’t really have much info on J Bryant so for now we will kinda have to wait up for more information to drop.

Howee – Daddys Lil Girl

I need to do justice to this post before I post the track because on so many levels I’ve been going back and forth about how I will post thing song, air out my opinions and then ultimately let the track rip. There are several different parts to posting this track that you guys need to take into consideration.
- I know Howee very well, he was the young’n in the crew, I rolled with his talented brothers for years while I was in Kenya. So there is a general bias towards the family and towards him as an individual.
- I’ve known of his child, the situations surrounding the child, him and other personal issues that don’t need to be here. So for him to make this track I am truthfully touched because I know it’s coming from a good part of his heart.
- Lastly Howee has been buggin me about putting this track on rotation for a while mostly because he is about to break some phenomenal marketing barriers for the first time for an East African Artists online but mostly also because this track here present an opportunity that most of his other music hasn’t really in a while.
Okay back to the track – I am conflicted with Howee as an artists, and I want to say this in all honesty. I think Howee as a rapper is just okay, he is not exceptional he is an okay rapper. I think many people in Kenya won’t and can’t understand his music style and hence he has always been forced to channel his music across the borders and into other markets. And that’s okay because I think you cant get everyone feeling your music. I sat with a panel of our DJs to discuss his music and there were many conflicting outcomes.
The one thing we all however agree about is the guy is that he knows how to push his music and how to push his brand. I gotta admit I am impressed by that. So much that I hit him up a month ago and asked him why he has never considered talent marketing or artists management. The truth is Howee in my opinion is a better music entrepreneur than he is an artists and thats just the truth from where I stand (No pun intended Brov). I mean the dude understands the potential of the Internet, the entertainment business, the market, the opportunities and he goes hard on all these things.
Either way one thing I learned over time in this industry and in life is that you gotta do whats right for you first. And then when whats right for you feels right then you will get other people to support you on your journey to righteousness. Right now Howee is doing him. So its like the world is paying attention irregardless whether they like it or not. When you start looking and working for your music to go beyond the African walls you must have some big CAJUNAS/COJONES. And for that we support you Brov. To me Daddys little girl was not necessarily about the beat and the rhymes, it was more about the message and the encouragement the track gives me and other single parents out there to try and do right by their kids. To me the track signifies some level of maturity and engages a conversation in the community that most African fathers never really want to have. I know am not one to speak on this subject matter but for what its worth there are guys who have the opportunity of being good fathers today but they throw it away each day. The Mboch spends more time with the child than with the folks beats the purpose. But most of these changes start with one conversation – and I think Howee opened up the door for these conversations.
Much love and respect – I hope this journey brings out the best in you…

K’Naan – Waving Flag (Official World Cup Song for 2010)

I just cannot believe that we first had K’Naan’s post on GetMziki on February 2009 exactly one year ago (Click here for the post)
Now, we all know that the African Cup of nations just ended a couple of weeks ago and big up’s to Egypt for winning the cup. I’m a soccer fan and on that same breath I realized that I had not posted this track from K’Naan.
K’Naan’s track ‘Waving Flags” has been chosen as the official song of the 2010 soccer world cup in South Africa which is scheduled to start in June this year. I’m telling you that if you have not listened to K’Naan’s album you are missing out on good quality music. I know that with that song getting chosen as the official song of the world cup his “cheque” will look pretty good.
Various people have been remixing this song just to cash in on the world cup so I present 2 versions of the song.
On a side note what are Africa’s chances on the world cup in 2010. Soccer fans out there what u think????
Enjoy Waving flags

Jay Moe feat Ngwea – Kimya Kimya (GetMziki Best Collaboration)

I figured I might as well post this song after the hot summer jam I posted from Ngwea below. This track came out about 4 to 5 years ago titled Kimya Kimya. Its a complete sample off GAME and 50 Cents hate it or love it which for kicks I have posted below too, however what I wanted to prove is that Africa can sample beats and make them sound FRESHER than the original tracks. I also wanted to demonstrate what an awesome producer P-Funk is.
Kimya Kimya ruled the Tanzanian radio waves for months before it was retired but on my ipod its always on heavy rotation. Enjoy coz these types of tunes dont happen everyday.

Ngwea feat Fid Q – CNN (GetMziki Exclusive ****)

I am always excited to hear new music from Ngwea and anything produced by P-Funk. Bongo Records is at it again. Real Talk though I think P-Funk is still the pioneer of Bongo Flava in the region. I have often said its safe to gauge where Bongo Flava is headed based on what type of music he will put out. This track here is a testament to that truth. As much as there are new comers into the scene mainly people like LEMAR and other old school giants like Ambrose (Mandugu). I still feel like there is something unique that P-Funk brings to the game thats always like a game changer. I will explain my thoughts at a later post not today.
For today I feel blessed to know that my posse Chamba Squad is still doing well and killing it on the mic. Ngwea has had hits for days, he is the artists behind “She got it Gwan“, he is also the man behind “Mikasi” and one of my favorite tracks that I need to post soon ” Kimya Kimya” . With that kind of track record you cant expect anything less from the Chamber Squad pioneer.
I’ve spent a gang of time with the crew back in my youth (makes me feel Old) ha ha ha but back in my hay days I used to sit in the corner with my blunt in my hand with the crew – am old school now. heres proof of that.

Anyway good times, good times. heres some heat from Ngwea – the track is not really new it dropped sometime last yeah in July/August but its been making the rounds in East Africa this week so we thought to give it a spin today.

Abbas – Kariobangi South (GetMziki Exclusive ****)

Is it rather obvious that we love ABBAS KUBAFF (Doobiez) at GetMziki? Well if it isnt we probably have posted over 6 to 7 tracks of his previous album and from the looks of the new upcoming material we will be posting about 7 more. Abbas is a small genius in my perspective, I think lyrically and vocally he just gets it and knows how to deliver it. He partners with the right producers who know how to bring his sound out. I am yet to hear a beat that I didn’t think he murdered or he didn’t deliver as he should have.
I am really not going to go into details about Abbas because i have over explained his persona in previous posts. What I would like to do right now is shut up and listen to this track again…. Killer Killer I love it… K south is back. How about BAMBOO makes a remake? TIM uko wapi?
