Gongo Aso didn’t grow on me! I pendad it from the get go! Why? The beat is bold and nicely detailed. Instrumentation is nicely African {pay attention to the marimba and left-panned guitar melody on the hooks} but fast paced hiphopish at the same time. Vocals well mastered plus he sings truly well this guy. It’s a great product man. What’s up with these Nigerians? I’m almost angry we haven’t produced a real African King / Queen yet. {Wahu’s MTV Win is probably the beginning..just like Martin Luther, Jesse Jackson began the race..Obama’s running the last lap.} With all the hype of Kenya being the Capital Centre of East Africa and all….but somebody’s noticed. And Kenya will soon show its musical might! But, big up 9ice!

Kenyanised,

I hear you on the share of voice on this website - I share Kenyan music a lot more than any other genre because of course I have better access to Kenyan artists and entertainers, but more so because I admire the new up rise. While its inspiring to love and appreciate Kenyan music, I think there is a large database of wonderful music we are all missing out on and we can learn and share sounds from these other tunes if we open up our minds and hearts. That's the single reason I share some West African tunes here and there.

As far as Ali Kiba is concerned, I personally wasn't involved with taking Ali Kiba to Atlanta (Kiba was a TOD phenomenon), I think the fact that many Kenyans loved his hit Cinderella it made sense to bring him this year. I don't have any real opinion about Kenyan vs Tanzanian artists being on tour, I think many promoters will give the people (the mass majority) what they want. And I think this year everyone wanted to See Ali Kiba.

I am not a promoter (I only help out my friends whenever I can in pushing their events). But I can very well understand how many promoters think... I don't think any of these people were not keeping it Kenyan - they had many Kenyan DJs, and other Kenyan performances ... that point can be argued out ama? ...

Thanks for the feedback though

Much love

the lesson is simple, people on this site yearn for kenyan music so while the nigerians might have good music its just not what visitors of this site are looking for!!!!!!!. one question for leo, WHY THE HELL DID YALL GUYZ DESCIDE TO BRING ALI KIBA TO A KENYAN THANXGIVING EVENT???? thats really effed up. whoever came up with that idea was high coz he got it all wrong.

while most of u promoters tend think that bongo music is of better quality than kenyan music(and u r entitled 2 ur opinion) u forget that kenyans love their music and thats a fact and its is all that matters.

anyways, KEEP IT KENYANISED!!!

I think the song has that x-over appeal...It's a song any African or anyone for that matter would dance to in a club! If a dj mixes this track with one of those South African songs and a Nameless one, you'd think it's the same band...I don't think it's boring just new and different from what most folks are used to...Africa is raising and even amongst ourselves we're having to discover new horizons...so keep it up folks an open your minds!

honestly this is much ado about nothing! psquare are good, fela is good but this song is downright boring and it may excite the nigerians same way juakali might excite kenyans but fails to excite say south africans! and the main reason is its got n cross over appeal and its just lame and much ado about zilch! but then again some goon liked it and decided to declare a nigerian take over; BORING!
