Brand New: Bamboo feat J-Sol – Waniua/Long Distance (Get Mziki Exclusive ***)

Bamboo

Bamboo dropped this track a week ago, unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to listen to it until yesterday. Initially there was a lot of name dropping on the email (Typical Tim when he is excited). “The Song features J-Sol on the hook” and produced by the same guy who produced Sweet Dreams are made of this (Named Swisha who is signed to Dave stewart).. Meanwhile all along am listening to this track am saying damn its good to have P-Funk back (Popular Tanzanian producer).

Personally I am more excited to just have Bamboo back. This year he has been blessed and in return he has blessed our ears, consider this for an album run. He dropped Tubambiane earlier in the year, which was a sick come back for an artist many had written off (I still listen to that song everyday). He then dropped Tabia Mbaya, which was an instant club banger and heart robber.

So if you sample the past two tracks and then get to this Long Distance track – one thing that will definitely stand out is the fact that the man is back. Bamboo has embraced his roots and is going full throttle hard at the local East African market. This track would fit right in the Tanzanian market with the other hits that people like P-Funk puts together. Its interesting that some US/UK Based producer put this track together. However this is not the type of song you would hear in a club but its definitely going to get massive radio play and rotation.

All we need now is one more HIT Bamboo! and then we can take over the world :-)

ps. That guy singing the hook? sick! Good job on this collabo by the way Jay and Jay Soul… pss. Big shouts also to Attitude, Mercy and the whole ATL crew thank you for your love and support to the GetMziki team whenever we are in town…

Enjoy the track – give us your thoughts and feedback…

A murderous record for sure, respect to Bamboo, can’t wait for the album

  2. kenyanised says:

2 things, the beat and the guy singing the chorus!!!! the beat is bongo-ish and hip hop-ish at the same time. the guy singing the chorus is killing it. period.

  3. kenyanised says:

i didnt mention bamboo because the guy is a lyrical genious and he has yet to disapoint me. i dont expect less and he neva lets me down. listen to the last stanza, pure genious.

  4. Lisa says:

The African Bantu is definitely back!! Glad someone told him that Compton pullin caps up niggaz asses rap ish was not working for him. Now this has a touch of home and i bet the audiences in Africa are gonna fall in love with this. As for the dude singing…ashamtoa nyoka pangoni..speechless!!

  5. 2K says:

i agree with kenyanised…by now i have come 2 expect this from Bamboo…lyrically he is untouchable…whether its swahili amma kilami…but i disagree that bamboos stint doing hardcore rap wasnt working…i think that he had it on lock n should keep at it…its just that kenyans didnt join him when he took his career in a different direction…(just like weezy will lose some fans when he goes rock,or when kanye lost cred 4 doin “808′s”)…this, i believe is stagnation…as an artist, he feels comfortable and confident enough 2 try sumthin new…most artists dont have the “cojones” 2 do this…i just hope that 4 bamboos sake, that he isn’t dumbing his rhymes down in order 2 please ears that only want 1 type of music from him…as a fan i think bamboo is proficient in both styles n should never compromise his talent n dumb down his rhymes 2 please just his swahili fans…i love this track n all his kingoso tracks…compton or not, his God given talents shouldnt be under-estimated…he is good at both
kwa hii track…i fully co-sign it…autotune kwa wingi…will autotune ever die??????n the guy on the hook reminds me of a younger Jaheim…old school mzeiya…RESPECT

  6. Lisa says:

Ebonics- not quite the language spoken by the ‘average’ EastAfrican if any. It only makes sense if they dont recieve him well with his rap iish cuz they cant understand his lingo let alone relate to the bruh who goes by Bamboo but raps in Ebonics srtaight up?!!
On the other hand when in Compton do as they do so im guessing he switched his style for and hes waiting for the money to pile up? Hoping he blows up like Akon cuz he is damn good at what he does Kenyan or American boy is dope! All im tryna say if inorder for his music to sell in Africa he gotta add that African touch to his music. Just my 2 cents hommy!

  7. 2K says:

i feel u on that 1 Lisa…nimekuelewa…but incidentally, i was always curious about kenyan fans…labda u can help me out…i mean, they love Jay-z,the game,50…and can recite their rhymes word 4 word a.k.a ebonics…but when Bamboo steps over into kingoso, wasee wanaboo…even though Bamboo is kinda like a double threat coz he has lived both worlds-unlike akina Jay na Fif…i believe that Bamboo,Abbass,Klepto, the Union are a handful of hardcore hip-hop artists who are able 2 steadily wean us off of american hip-hop…if we can get a kenyan 2 give us genge n at the same time kingoso hip-hop,si we have killed 2 birds with 1 dimanga????Lisa,do u think hip-hop will be 1 day accepted as mainstream in kenya?????your thoughts please……..
ON A FUNNY NOTE…bamboo has an unfortunate name when it comes 2 psyking up the crowd…yaani “WHEN I SAY BAM, Y’ALL SAY BOO/BAM………..BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO”…ha

  8. Crystal says:

Fabulous Fabulous Fabulous!!! I love it!!! The dude who does the hook!! WOW!!!

  9. Leo Faya says:

Me all am asking is who is this Vanessa Chile Bamboo keeps talking about it must be years… But Bamboo still talking about her.. Manzi aliwacha impact kinyama.. wa wa wa.. he he he … But thats cool… Good track! Actually thank you Vanessa for allowing people like Bamboo to find the spirit to be create and vent out.

  10. ELD massive says:

I disagree with Yall!the track is aight! but not a banger like the Compe collabo with Prezzo song,The rest of the tracks are wack, Ukweli wa mambo, the lyrics n style are nothing poetic or flowing like i.e Klepto…So pliz Leo & close friends,we aint buying him a “Lyrica Genius!!” Hamna, Pliz…If you consider him all that then u misleading Mziki Fans…

  11. Lisa says:

Dimanga?? I keep learning new slang everyday! See Bamboo started out great for he was that dude from Kariobangi that everyone knew. Allover sudden he’s ‘Bermboo’ sounding all Curtis Jackson like of course minus the street cred that every rapper claims to have….never heard of Bamboo being shot nine times and selling crack coccaine.Thats what Kenyans wanna hear things they can only see in movies and lifestyles to fantasize about!
Hip hop in Kenya, yeah but the artist have to make it their own and not so much trying to sound like Wayne Jigga and the rest..ya know swagga jacking! Like Abbas,Klepto, prof J, JuaCali and them they are hip hop but also keep it home and also have international capabilities without sounding like copy cats.
http://latino.myspace.com/kjmuchoki Homy Kanja been trying to get signed for the longest. Hes actually American born and raised so maybe he will be the 1st Kenyan blood rapper we gat to go International n iish

  12. 254 says:

Well said @ Lisa! We got too many “Wannabies” Kenyan Rappers!! esp ndani ya Getmziki,Leo @ Co, go categorize them into their own genres i.e MaWannabie, since there not Genge or Kapuka !

  13. wanjala says:

i like this track. bamboo has killed it round hii.. na hakuna kitu huniudhi ka watu hutype ish badala useme tu shit mara moja..aaargh!!

  14. Nonnie says:

I love the song..not for the obvious reasons though.I have never been a fan of Bamboo but this song might just make me change my mind.
Whatever he is singing/rapping(wateva) lies very close to my heart.I’m glad that curiosity got the better of me or else I wouldn’t have bothered to listen to the track.

  15. kidjoh says:

ahh, song iko on point. i loveee it :]
    definately feeling homesick .. !

  16. dubz says:

Bamboo is being missed in Kenya, the scene isnt the same without him!

  17. Lisa says:

Been overplaying this track!! Ok so this is Bamboo feat Jayso&J-sol cuz there are three different voices here. The dude on the hook J-sol(i think) totally overshadows the rappers as in he is so damn good that youre caught anticipating his part! Like nonnie never been a bamboo fan but if he does this kinda music then he will bag more fans than ever!

@Wanjala Classy ladies dont curse ovyo ovyo so imma need u to STFU!!

  18. wanjala says:

This Lisa bitch is funny… if u consider not cursing class then go on with your “classy” self.
Oh and thanks a bunch for your in-depth analysis of the song, I wouldn’t have had any idea what was going on were it not for you.

  19. Temiko says:

    Mbovu!!!Hii!!

  20. Jafeni says:
