I heard this song a few months ago/weeks so its not necessarily new, I think I heard it off a mixtape but finally got my hands on a reasonably okay quality which I can share. I fell in love with the track upon first listen – exclusively because this is a FRESH AIR productions. There is something interesting about this track you have to appreciate when you listen to it over and over again.
Personally I have always voiced my concern or dis-concern there off from the fact that Wyre focuses on singing in Patois which for me I don’t think is a good look. But F*&k it he kills it in this track, the rhythm, the momentum the composure or the lyrics, the harmonies and the strings coupled with his powerful voice just make this a track you’d want to see massive dub plates on. I mean how does Wyre start speaking or rapping in Patois (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patois – for all the folks who are not up to speed with Patois which is pronounced patwa here is a link for you to get educated – Patois or Pidgin English) yet he has never really lived or grown up in Jamaica. I figure Redsan and Shavie and Slice do the same thing but to me I find it such a substandard way of getting the point across.
Jamaicans and Nigerians do it coz thats how they speak regardless, for Kenyans to dub this and make it their own – I dont know. What makes a song reggae anyway? its not the language? albeit its the track composition the rhythm and production technique used, the piano work and the harps. So this track would pass regardless, the fact that Wyre blesses it with some lingo is just value add… Anyway what am I ranting about – maybe this is just what this song is about… ITS AN UPRISING.. I need to get with the program.
Wyre Bless – this is a killer track… Mad love.

A Versatile Artist!!
Leo, i totally agree with u, Wyre Killed the song, But!!! i just can’t stand Kenyan “Rappers n Reggae wannabies”
I totally get you on the patois thing, for some reason I do not mind how Wyre does it coz he is not totally aping those who speak patois as a native language..but as for Shavie and Slice!!I think they are like the fakest people ever!I was listening to Shavie being interviewed once…he insisted on sticking to the patois thing the whole time.It was so frigging annoying! He should style up.
Okay I haven’t really listened to the song, bet its okay though.Couldn’t resist commenting on the patois issue.
uh just to clear things up…that’s a Sean Paul beat. It’s from a song called “Hold my hand”

To be honest, I wonder what audience Wyre is singing for when he sings in patois. The Jamaicans can’t stand “Ja-fake-ans”(fake Jamaicans) and Kenyans dont speak patois. Lucky DUbe(RIP) had a hard time performing in JA despite the fact that he was the African Bob Marley.
Dont get me wrong, I’m a Wyre fan…but when he sings in patois he just throws me off. Plus the beat-jacking is not a good look. Atleast he should have credited the actual producer.
Damn Damn Damn… this year its going to be a cold winter… You want to tell me Fresh Air sampled this beat or straight up jacked it? That beat Jacking is not a good look at all.. I dont mind if you sample a classic from the 60/70′s but damn…. Well maybe its all about the ridim…. But damn damn damn..
Anyway this could possibly be a Ridim – they do that a lot in Dancehall and reggae music, if a ridim is big people are allowed to ride on that beat to make it bigger and better…
I heard the Relationships Riddim a few months ago and when I heard Wyre’s track, I gained respect for his talent. People this track is sick!!!
Sup people, just a bit of background on this. Wyre did NOT jack the track. The track was produced by Arif Cooper, a old school friend of mine in Jamaica. He gave me permission to get Wyre to voice on this riddim, which is called the Relationships Riddim. As you may or may not know, Jamaican reggae music is Rhythm Driven, so Wyre gets to feature on an album that features Sean Paul, Alaine, T.O.K and others great Reggae artistes, Collie Buddz, I Wayne and many more. Wyre’s Vocals were mixed down at Fresh Ear by Arif, who himself told me he loves the tune AND I just heard the song playing on Irie FM which is Jamaica’s most listened to station. As far as I know, this is the first time a Kenyan artist has featured on a Jamaican rhythm OFFICIALLY – As a Jamaican, living and working in Kenya, I can tell you – The Wyre Cut is BIG!! and is going to surprise a lot of people – Jamaicans appreciate GOOD music, some of the biggest songs in Dancehall have come from people who aren’t Jamaican – In fact, look at Collie Buddz (Bermudan), Alborosie (Italian) Gentleman (German) and the big new tune from Maikal X on Don Corleone Changes Riddim, Maikal is from Holland. All these artistes have left and continue to leave their imprint on Dancehall. Furthermore on the 19 cuts on the Relationships riddim, you have guys who hail from New York, One singer from Boston, one from Japan and Wyre from Kenya.
Who is Wyre singing for on this Riddim, he is singing for Reggae Lovers worldwide, hopefull that will include Reggae lovers in Kenya, if not, oh well …..
Well Said G Money, I think not too many people understand what Riddims are but well said.. big up.
Kera just got on the same riddim and killed it. Loving what Kenyan artist are doing expressing different styles on a singular track.
