I just got this track today and honestly I wasn’t sure if I should post it or wait until I get a better sense of the style and production. At GetMziki we have a habit of holding the songs, listening, sharing internally and then forming opinions based of initial comments. However I think this track is too hot to hold onto even for a week.
I am posting this song today more specifically because I want to demystify this whole patois movement in Kenya. Here is a good example of an artists who goes back and forth, yet when you talk to her or listen to her interviews she is just a regular Kenyan. This track has some elements of Dancehall, Genge, Kapuka as well as other familiar urban sounds. I dig this song in particular because of the lyrics.
The intro has Kenyatta (Killer on getting the clearance to that audio 
) Second the whole metaphorical flow, bigging her JESHI or their JESHI. She practically bigs up every important artists in Kenya and rhymes with their title tracks in mind… For the slow ones here is an excerpt of her flow –

DAMN I cant even pen these lyrics.. this is just a bad ass track she kills it on this one… I have to say its been a while since ive seen some intelligent rhymes.

ay leo, most of the time you are a good judge of talent, lakini of late mazee… as much as i like the artists, kuna ngoma zingine umepost zenye afadhali tu zingebaki kwa comp yako ya home. i love naz lakini ngoma imechoka ile mbaya.
Awwww man I co-sign wanjala about this track…pretty weak. The beat does not match the words. The sounds in the background like flute or something and the drums could be tightened a bit.
Maze… I didnt say this is a blockbuster.. but you cant deny the fact that the lyrics are on point. (although the verses are like 3 bars each ha ha ha ) Real talk.. I just think its a good attempt at making a statement..

I like Nazizi but i have to say this track dsnt do it for me. Its all rather too bland and dsnt offer anyhting new. Fair enough she is trying to make a statement but she would have still got her message through with a different beat all together.

Various artist based in the US are featured all through this site, search for Vyba, Vintiquzee akina Chava… We feature music that is supplied to us by the artists. So if Daddy V or any other artist doesn’t supply the music we definitely dont have a way of getting it.
