Nonini the Godfather of Genge has been working on his Sophomore album for the last few months however according to sources close to him – he hasn’t really been feeling the last few releases. If you recall we debuted KUMBUKA feat Lady Bee and KADHAA on the site a few months ago. I figure he anticipated that any one of these songs would have been bigger than Keroro or any of his previous songs. But to his dismay it seems as though they really haven’t given him the kind of traction he has been anticipating.
Personal note: NOTE TO SELF – to date I still think KERORO was one of Noninis biggest tracks EVER. Musyoka and Nonini in a studio for the first time and Keroro came out. It was so unexpected. Keroro was one of those songs you just have to accept, its vulgarity and audacity made it one of the biggest songs of all time. If i had to do a top all time ten urban tracks in Kenya – my number 2 or 3 would be Keroro.
So knowing Nonini and the perfectionist he is – he decided to drop this single last week to pony up more hype to his much anticipated album. Teaming up with Musyoka again – to see if they can reinvent the chemistry they once had. This Kwaito beat inspired, lyrically compelling track has Nonini reaching for the stars. Personally I don’t know if its bigger than Kumbuka, but thats just my own opinion – I think the day Nonini emailed me and told me about Kumbuka he knew I would never get passed that song
including the video lol. But ill let y’all sample this goodness and let me know what you all think.
ps. Nonini how about getting a clean cut of Keroro and the instrumentals Mzeiya. Meanwhile anyone who wants the vocals and instrumentals of Kataa Hio – scream at me.

I like the fact i can pick out a Musyoka track… his style is diverse but yet unique!!!
His subtle sounds and bass lines are sick… am a production junkie and i enjoy his works!!!
Keroro as you said was unexpected. It was a new tune and that is why it was a big hit. After that, personally I think Nonini’s songs all sound he same, that is the rap section. Nothing new after keroro. It seems the only things that change are the choruses as these are sang by different pple
Hey !!!! i think this kataaa hiyooooo song imenibamba kinoma.
ok, so I may be the only one, at least for now who thinks Kadhaa was one of the best. maybe its that humming by Apondi that gets me ama its the whole arrangement and sasawa video, anyway bila ku regress, Nons is doing aight by my books. ubaya tu ni the timeframe from the release of singles and the debuts of albums with those same singles in them! if you sambaza singles and release an album with the same singles kedo like a 8 months or a year later…gaefafa, hakutawa na psych
Yeah But isn’t that like typical with all Kenyan artists? Like Nameless released all his singles before his album eventually came out. Overtime however I realised they make more money from having their singles in circulation because it warrants more songs during their performance. Essentially a Kenyan artist can have a single release party 5 times before his album drops
LOL
Real talk though all these artists make more money from performance fees and not really album sales. So in the final analysis when you start thinking about releases singles vs albums.. it dont really matter coz what you are looking forward to as an artists are the performance fees.
Leo….. well put! but we will in the near future be able to do both!
The only way the Kenyan Music industry is going to get better control of Album sales or record sales is if two things happen
1. The industry develops a low cost device that will allow every Kenyan to gain access to the music in Kenya or Globally.. Essentially a CHEAP – well engraved IPOD or mp3 player
2. If the country as a whole GETS BORED OF RADIO… and develops a liking for alternative music resources.
not bad..quite innovative.ina hewa pia!
