Dona was going to post this track after a recent string of media coverage thrown at this new African artists, but I told him I want to steal the shine on this one. The challenge here is to post something meaningful without overly being opinionated and/or bashful of the talent behind this cat. One of my friends (Mike Wanguhu) dotted down that this is probably one of the smartest marketers of all time from Africa. I mean apart from “Black Jesos” the bom digidi, this is the only other African Urban artist that has gotten mad spins and numerous video shares on YouTube.
The thing is this – I personally dont think Bangs can sing or rap, but if you think about it, half of the artists that we have posted on this site over time really cant sing or rap. Talent lately has been mediocre, its a hit or miss really. Some people flourish because of auto tune, some people flourish because of collabos – so for what its worth as far as Africa is concerned – BANGS is a success. The ultimate marketing tool and he is getting the kind of attention many aspiring artists want (he had an interview on Shade45) I wouldnt be surprised if I saw him on BET or MTV for an interview.
But real talk I admire dudes enthusiasm – you gotta believe in yourself first before other folks can believe in you and I think for what its worth, the Internet is going crazy with this cat because of the audacity of wanting to be a super star – by force… by force…

come on guys..be serious!! wachaneni na hiyo upuzi it’s about quality music,how many artists are out here like this…he sucks and its not marketing its sucking so bad until the whole world knows he sucks,so world star hip hop posted his video and now he sucks internationally.no he wont be on BET,he wont be on Mtv and if he is..you should be worried that this …not bamboo,not HHP or any other non sucky hip hop artists from Africa..is representing our standard of music.

Leo, I feel you on this one. Granted, dude lacks content but thats like 70% of the rap game right now. People been hating on Bangs but I lemme ask…Gucci Mane got bars? Soulja Boy?Flo Rida? No..nada!Nowadays, its about melody and how catchy a song is. So even though this guy’s content is wanting, he def makes it up with his confidence and resilience. He is like the African Soulja Boy..like if soulja could make it so can he. I feel like if he makes a song thats catchy with an addictive hook, he’ll blow up big.

Are you guys serious? This guy is being ridiculed the World over! World Hip Hop dot com has even rated hip as the biggest fail in the history of Rap. This video on his youtube channel had over 900,000 views and 99.99% of the comments were people mocking him and you can go to his youtube channel and see what he did next; ALL THE COMMENTS WERE ERASED BY WHOEVER RUNS HIS CHANNEL! You guys have to do a bit of research before posting stuff and crying messiah! LOL The joke is on you all! LOL this guy sucks and cant be compared to florida or soulja boy! be serious Leo! hahah He is awful!

I agree with Leo. The guy can’t sing or rap but his marketing is insane. Why do you think Shady 45 had him on the show. Is it coz he would make their ratings go down. I don’t think so. Anybody out here should read Interscope’s A and R “manual”. It says all we need is 30% musical talent and 70 % marketability. Go figure!!!. TAKE IT TO THE MOVIES

I have always complained about the quality of the critique on this site and I am glad more people are beginning to see it. Marketing genius he may be, we can’t take that away since we’re here ready about him and writing about him, sucking or not… However, I don’t feel any good vibrations from his tracks. I’m sorry, this just sucks, no skill, no umph, no talent, no-thing, period. After listing to this, I have to play something else just so I can get the crap out of my head.
