The Coast awards nominees were announced a couple of weeks ago and one of the nominees for the “CHIPUKIZI ARTISTE” is Ohzy. Its no secret that the coastal region has a bubbling music industry, with their own radio stations, artists, producers and swag, that you really get to enjoy and appreciate when you visit the town. Ohzy is one of the artist’s from the coast who’s getting mad air play both on radio and video all over the country. Since this is the first time that we are showcasing Ohzy on GetMziki, some bio about him is only right for everybody out there so people can get familiar with him.
Ohzy was in the coastal group the Hotboyz in the mid-2000s and they released their smash “Vumilia,” in 2005 . However, his big break came when Producer Mobiz/Thundersound signed him and released his single “Bongeni” which has been hitting the streets, radio and clubs heavy. On Bogeni, Ohzy goes hard on a simple yet catchy beat for his street anthem. On Tumerauka which features Chikuzee, Ohzy talks about his musical journey and the ups and downs of coming up in the music business.
You will definitely be hearing more from this cat in 2010. His debut album will be released this year and from the songs I’ve heard so far, the album will definitely be worth checking out.
