Chege F/ Wahu and Themba – Mkono Mmoja
We are playing catch up and will be “quick” posting some tracks so that we get them out there. Chege and Temba are part of the Wanaume TMK family which I like referring to as the Wu-Tang of Tanzania Hip Hop. We have featured Wanaume TMK and Chege On GetMziki before, with the last post being on Wahu’s “Running Low” remix.
On “Mkono Juu” Chege and Temba enlist the help of Wahu for a great collabo. The 3 really shine well in the track, with every artist going hard on thier part. This is one of those tracks that you let “breathe”, since the track needs no “hype”. Its a banger straight up!!!

Daddy V- Dear Daddy
It’s one of those times when we feature a African artist based overseas. Daddy V, is a Kenyan artist based in Dallas and is no stranger to GetMziki. We have featured some of his tracks including Mahooks, Julietta and Nare, since he really sets the bar in terms of good quality music, being relevant in todays music scenes and till today remains one of the few artists consitently getting shows in the US, which speaks volumes on his music and hustle.
One thing we always treasure is showcasing artists that have passion for thier music and going above and beyond to push and market thier music without comprising on quality. His musical growth can also be seen in the various songs we showcase and artists out there should have him as a template on how to promote thier albums. Although “Nare” his debut album was released a few years ago, Daddy V is still releasing singles and videos from the album which is the 2010 way of marketing music.
He slid the team his brand new single “Dear Daddy” and we have been mariniating and bumping to the track. The track is on the Fallen Soldiers Riddim and is a dedication to his dad and to everybody out there who has lost a loved one. It’s one of those tracks that everyone out there can really relate to and also one of those timeless songs. Big shout outs to Kilimanjaro records!!!. Go out and support your artists. You can get Daddy V cd Nare here.

Radio and Weasel – Heart Attack (GetMziki Exclusive)
Its Friday and I want get this track out that i just got this week since we’ve really been slow on the music updates, which will change as we are working out on some final website details. We have featured Radio and Weasel on the site before and you can check out this link for the previous posts. They are currently on tour in the US.
On this song I will copy some excerpt’s from the GetMziki team when we posted various tracks from the duo. Here is an excerpt from Leo when he posted the Zuena song. “I am almost compelled to say that Mozey and Weasle are going to give P-Square some true competition – Coz lets face it these cats can sing no matter how you look at it. I am really feeling this dancehall – reggae – upbeat patois (Uganda – or Luganda) uptake on music.
Here is what I had to say about thier music when I posted the Kuku track.
“Radio and Weasel are the “Gucci Manes ” of Ugandan music. It seems they are on everybody’s track. I also get new songs from them every other week and their music portfolio is just too huge to mention. I said before that they are the “group” in East Africa that will be ruling dance floors in a crazy way in 2010. I’m sure once promoters catch on to their music catalog, they will be the group that will be packing arenas and selling out shows across the continent”.
Enjoy this new track “Heart Attack”

African Remixes – Gyptian “Hold Yuh”

Gyptian’s “Hold Yuh” track has been a banger everywhere for a while now and various artists across the world have been jumping on the track and creating thier own versions. It’s a trend that has been there for a while and will always be a medium for artists to create remixes.
Many East African artists have still not caught up on the “Jumping on other people beats” trend while on the flip side artists especially from Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa have been doing unofficial remixes using tracks from tons of artists including Lil Wayne, Beyonce, Rihanna, Movado and many more.
I’ve always told artists that “Jumping on other people beats” for unofficial remixes opens up tons of doors in terms of writing skills, song arrangement and overall song composition. Most artists use the tracks as promotional material for thier street albums and mixtapes and creates that street buzz, since you are jumping on a song that is already hot.
A good example I always give is when Vybz Kartel voiced over Ne-Yo’s “Miss Independent” instrumental for his “Romping Shop” version. When “Romping Shop” came out, Ne-Yo’s publishing company wrote to Vybz’s team stating that Rompin Shop was infringing on the copyright license of the “Miss Independent” record. Ne-Yo’s record label even forced the song to be pulled from all radio stations, television stations plus you-tube. After thinking about it again, Ne-Yo’s record company reversed its decision to yank the song since it saw the win-win situation in the matter since “Romping Shop” was also a club banger, which meant it gave more “free” marketing for “Miss independent”. Record companies have now caught up to the trend and will purposely release instrumentals with just one verse and chorus for other artists to jump on.
Anyways, here are some “unofficial” remixes to Gyptians ‘Hold Yuh” done by Grip Boyz from Nigeria and Klu Boboo and Kevin Nash from Ghana. I believe I have one from Dafari From Kenya and will post later on today.
Enjoy!!!

We post various songs way before artists shoot the videos and the “Video Showcase” is one way we post the videos with a link to the original post and the song download for those who might have missed it. (P/S:Click on the bold part for the download link and original post)
P-Unit just released the video to thier smah hit KAre this past week. Big ups to the whole P-unit, Habo, Eric Musyoka team. Iko!!!!
Kidum feat Lady Jay Dee – Nitafanya
We posted this song in May of this year, and the song has been doing great number sin the radio and clubs. Enjoy!!!!
Cartel feat Alfayo & Kumi Kumi – Katenga B’Nice
Another video from Cartel. Cartel is definitely on my XXL top 10 Freshmen of 2010.
Kanja Feat Naomi – Shorty Say Eh
Kanja Muchoki aka KANJA THE AFRIKAN KING, is a rising international star after winning B.E.T’s 106 and Park Wild Out competition a few months ago. Born in London, U.K, of Kenyan parents, his name has been floating around as the next superstar to emerge from Africa. I didn’t really know anythig about Kanja, until a few months ago when a Kenyan A-List artist hit me up asking if I knew who he was since he was, since Kanja had hit him up asking for a collabo.
One thing I’ll commend Kanja is the way he Big up’s Kenya wherever he goes and that he still makes sure to throw in a few words here and there in Swahili which adds more flavor to his music.
I initially wanted to post his new song ‘Paradise”, but he hit us up and told to hold on to the track until he releases it officially. He need’s that crazy club anthem, that will separate himself from everyone else. One thing I know is that the sky’s the limit for him in terms of international exposure and opportunities.
However, with “Paradise” which he collabos with Naomi, he’s definitely on the right track!!!!
Enjoy “Shorty Say Eh”, the track he performed on B.E.T’s 106 and Park Wild Out competition.

Prof Jay Feat Chidi Benz – Msilie
Its time we took it back to the streets. This time we take it to Tanzania with a street anthem from Prof Jay called “Msilie”. The new single featuring Bongo heavy weight Chidi Benz was produced by Lamar at Fishcrab records. For those who are into production, listen to the intro where it draws you in instantly and the various change up’s in the beat. Hot!!!!
Prof Jay who is currently touring the US, has been featured before on GetMziki and his music catalog is so huge to really name all the classics he has. He’s a pioneer in the Bongo Music scene and many artists look up to him as a guide of making it in the music industry. Just to vent a little bit, I get so mad when promoters bring African based artists for tours in the US and always insist on “promoting” thier shows by using one or two of thier current songs and videos as the “template” of the artist’s music, which really blinds the average consumer into thinking that the artists only have those songs in thier music catalog. I’ve seen it so many times on Facebook and promoters websites and it’s a trend that is really hurting the artists, while in fact most of the artists have tons of hit songs on thier belt.
If you really follow Bongo music, you already know the weight Prof. Jay holds in Tanzania. The awards he has won are also just to many to mention but include the 2004 Tanzania Music Awards for Best Hip Hop Album “Mapinduzi Halisi”, the 2006 Tanzania Music Awards for Best Song “Nikusaidiaje”, the 2007 Kisima Music Awards for Best Ugandan Song “Sivyo Ndiviyo” with Chameleone, the 2009 Tanzania Music Awards for Best Songwriter and many more.
This track is an anthem in the streets and although its not your typical “club track” it’s a great record. For all the people out there who still like “non radio” station playlist songs and like that street edgy music, enjoy this one. Listen to the lyrics on this song to really appreciate the track.
Enjoy!!!

Judith Babirye – Wanjagala
I get tons of “music related” emails everyday whether from artists or producers sending me music or djs requesting music. Most people are region biased when it comes to what they listen to or groove to which means they miss out on the great music coming from African continent.
One of the emails I got this week was from one of the djs aksing me what was hot in Uganda right now in terms of Gospel music, since he was going to dj at a wedding and he needed some Gospel dance floor packers. I sent him a couple of songs and on that note decided to showcase Judith Babirye. If you’ve never heard of Judith before, then its about time you start venturing out of you music comfort zone to listen to that great music out there.
Judith Babirye is a power house in Uganda gospel circles and her past hits include Nzijukira, Newaayo and Yesu Mulamu. She’s a big figure in Ugandan Gospel music just like Esther Wahome and Ruth Wamuyu are in the Kenyan Gospel scene. Here is one of her quotes when asked about her music. “I thank God who makes me sing music that touches people. Many of my fans shed tears of joy in churches after listening to my music. I feel blessed.”
” Wanjagala” is a great record that is a hit all across Uganda. ‘Lwaki Mukama Wanjagala…bino ebyensi abanji byebawanawana sibirirna…Sirina kalungi kona…naye Mukama Wanjagala’
Enjoy!!!!

Jimmy Gathu – Stay Alive (GetMziki Throwback)
Let me make this post in two sections since I want to touch up on two main things as I write this.
- So called Celebs of Kenya and Entertainers
- Artist Social Responsibility in the community
So lets talk about the first since I was a so called “Celeb” at one point in my life. One of the biggest things for me was to always ask myself whats going to happen to me after all is said and done. Luckily I quit radio while I was still ontop, I honestly didnt feel like killing my career in media. However often I sit and ask myself like when you look at the spectrum of artists, entertainers and musicians in Kenya – who today can you say is/was successful in riding out their careers. Like where are the big stars of the 80/90′s? Where is Joe Mwamburi, Where is ESTA (Tushauriane super star?), Where is that Blueband kid (okay he wasnt a celeb but where is he), Where is Fred Obachi Machoka?
I think with the exception of folks like Five Alive – many Kenyan old school acts just kinda fizzle off. I dont know why but it just happened over time. Thats why sometimes when I think of Jimmy Gathu I feel like this is one cat who really rode out his media career and somehow has made a living off it. I respect his gangsta a lot. Jimmy has a lovely wife and family/kids and stuff and he still is on TV (Breakfast morning on Citizen I believe). But I am sure Jimmy doesn’t want to see this song am about to post today – I wish I could get my hands on the Jam-A-Delic clips ha ha ha that would be a trip and a half. Anyway Kule (Ekirapa) (you need to pull off that show – real talk).
The second part of this post is to talk about these social advocacy programs and initiatives. Today Kenyan artists will not just make a song fwaaaa!!! There has to be some organizational body behind the entire thing. I am not saying this Jimmy Gathu, Sheila Tet, Suzanne Kibukosya inspired track wasnt paid for by Kenya Road Safety Network, I am just saying that more and more artists need to make more conscious music. More mainstream artists need to talk about relevant shit more frequently than not. So far we only have the Ukoo Fulani mau mau’s who skew heavily toward understanding the self. Me am talking about these elections, these pocket eating politicians, these gun touting thugs and rapists, these road killing drunk motorists. Anyway do we have civil or social responsibility locally? How do we address that?
Moving right along this track was fire when it came out – it was on heavy rotation. Its amazing when I see Suzzanne Kibukosya wearing a mini (eiishh those mama has BODY yawa…) I can see why our old men were really sumbuliwad by the trio. Not withstanding Katherine Kasavuli who every Kenyan Old man had a crush on. Enjoy its a Wednesday and my mind is all over the place but this is a classic track.

Abby Skillz Feat Alinda – Dunia (GetMziki Exclusive ***)
Tanzania is on the verge of one of the biggest elections in its history. In my little knowledge of the Tanzanian Government structure, I believe since its independence Tanzania has had only one political party in power – CCM. For the first time in the history of the country and the community as a whole – the mass majority of the people are dissatisfied with the Governance CCM has put in place since president Jakaya Kikwete took office.
Essentially over the last 5 to 10 years Tanzanias economy has dwindled down as the people in power continue to take care of their own interests. Its as if TZ picked a page out of the Kenyan corruption notebook and perfected it. A few years ago (1999) there was an airport scandal of monumental heights. The Tanzanian Airports Authority bought a radar from BAE systems for 46Million Dollars. I mean this radar can see planes landing in South Africa thats how powerful it is, all with Tax payers money with other arrears that can’t seem to be tracked at this point. There has been an inquisition since then with no particular resolution to that effect(typical of East African countries). Remind me of the passport or ID equipment scandal Kenya had a while back too… Makes me wonder kwani there is not Government comptroller who checks to see whats being purchased and why? Or is he in on most of the things too? Sometimes I wish we could replicate that KAGAME guy… (coincidentally did you know that Rwanda has the most women in Government that any African country!! talk about equal opportunity)
Anyway I digress..
Today as I drop this Abby Skillz track I can’t help but listen to the words and hope and pray Tanzanians will make the right decisions on the polls this year. Abby breaks down region by region how politics and people just get power and go crazy. I think also taking into consideration today Kenya goes to the polls to vote YES or NO on the Draft Constitution – there has never been a more appropriate song.

E-Gnyte feat Jay Martins – This Kind Party ft. J.Martins (GetMziki Exclusive ***)
I love this Naija music (insert insanely jango sound ~ yawa ~) our Nigerian connects is awake now and responding so expect a lot more Naija tunes moving forward. This track by E-Gnyte (pronounced Ignite) featuring seasoned musician J-Martins who we’ve featured here over and over again is a sure shot collabo. Although I hear them mention De Cale Coupe dance! through out the track I find it hard to trace this sound with Coupe De Cale.
Eko Beats produced this banger and they have their strong outfit called Eko Beats Records which seems to have a line of stars slated for the Winter release 2010. We will keep a keen eye on this stable, but for now enjoy this banger. This kind of party!! I love the video too.

Lexx – Pretender

We want to apologize to everyone, for the slow updates in the last week or so. As you might have noticed, we are in the process of updating the website so we can better serve the readers, djs and media outlets out there. If you notice any issues with the music streaming or downloads please let us know. Everything should be complete in the next few days and once again, thanks for your patience.
I’ve had this song for the last couple of months and with everything else on board was slow to post it.
Lexx who was once a member of the group XYZee and known for hits like “Panda” “Juu yako” and ‘Tafuta Tafuta” is currently recording with Ogopa djs and his management team slid me this single a while back.
Currently based in Dallas, Lexx has been busy working on his album and with this single, he’s definitely on the right track in terms of music growth and vocal strength. The single “Pretender” is a great track that with the necessary push and promo will be a club banger. Ogopa djs did a great job on the video too. Iko !!!!!
Enjoy!!!

Batabazi- Rise Up
I want to start off the post by sending a message of condolence from the GetMziki team to all the people who lost thier loved ones and for the loss of life in the Uganda bombings during the soccer world cup finals. Our prayers and thoughts are with the Ugandan people.
Various Ugandan artists have been releasing tribute songs and songs also talking about the incident. One of the groups Batabazi just released this song “RiseUp” talking about the incident. We have featured them on the site before with thier song “Dirty Shame” featuring Jackie of Blu 3.
“Rise Up” recorded in in Luganda and English, is a song encouraging all the Ugandan people to stay strong amidst all the things currently going on in the country.

Miggy Feat Ziggy – Best Dj
Its one of those times where we feature an artist grinding hard and perfecting thier craft. One of our main connects Dan, has been sending us tons of music lately and we really have been trying to play catch up. Keep the tracks coming Dan!!!!! One of the tracks that caught my ear and really had everything (small bio, picture and Mp3 ) we typically need to post songs correctly, was this song “best dj” by Miggy .
Omari Migisi aka MC Miggy or simply Miggy is an artist who has been grinding and bubbling slowly on the music scene in Kenya. He’s affiliated with G-Hood Records and just launched his 14 track album this past May which was as he puts it ” was graced by my friendly artists like Pilipili, Jaguar, Tbroz, Mr Jiggy and Cool Malk”.
His album features tracks like “Watu Wawili”, “Blanketi” and “Nimechezi” among others and from what I’ve heard so far this kid got some heat!!!!
On “Best Dj”, which is a song that will slowly but surely capture you, Miggy talks about his “best dj” being a lady who knows how to rock a party and how he never misses any parties when she’s djing. Check out the video too and you will see a couple of your favourite celebrity artists and djs.
Enjoy!!!!

Shaa – Shoga (**GetMziki Artist Spotlight)
We have tons of tracks from Shaa and have had discussions among ourselves about how great her songs are and the way she has a bright future in Bongo music. With everything else we try to accomplish, we sadly enough haven’t really posted any tracks from her until now.
Sarah Kaisi, now commonly known as Shaa, is a 24 year old talented Tanzanian, who grew up in a musical family with her debut album being in early 2004 with the group “Wakilisha” of the East Africa Coca Cola Pop stars. The album had the hit single “Hoi” but after a while she left the group and went to Washington DC to further her studies. In October 2008, she landed herself a major record deal with Tanzania’s MJ Records and recorded her first solo album “Zamu Yangu” which means “It’s my turn”, since everybody in her former group had released albums apart from her.
Her music is a fusion of Zouk, Reggae and Bongo Flava . She was last year nominated for the the Best Newcomer of The Year category at the 2009 MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) and was also just recently signed to Rockstar 4000 Music Entertainment – the African continent’s first Pan African 360 Music & Entertainment Company and Record Label.
Her past hit singles include “Pambazuka” with AY, “Mtimanyongo” with Langa and “Mafundi”. The Song “Shoga” has slowly but surely been climbing the charts in most bongo radio station countdowns and with this track, she definitely cements her place in Bongo music for the long haul. Make sure to also check out the video for the beautiful backgrounds and “African Authenticity”. If this is the first time you’re hearing about Shaa, be ready to hear tons of her amazing work in the next coming years. Enjoy!!!

Cartel is not new to GetMziki, we posted a collabo he did with a bunch of other artists conveniently titled inakubambia wapi. He is back on with this interesting track featuring Alfayo and Kumi Kumi produced by Babz.
There is something about this song that I like and I cant put my mind or ears to it. Maybe I just like Jango-Swa. But either way I have to admit its my best Cartel song by far. Give this a good listen.

I showcased this song earlier this year and they just released the video a couple of weeks ago and its currently in the top ten video countdown on a couple of charts in Kenya. Enjoy!!!!
Chameleon feat Beenie Man – Here We Go (GetMziki Exclusive)
Funny how time flies. Its been a month since the world cup started and its been one “crazy fun” ride that few people would have ever predicted. Who would have thought that the defending champs Italy would not even go to the second round(ouuch) or that only one African team was gong to advance to the second round and get knocked out through PK’s. All in all, its been a great tournament.
The finals between Holland and Spain are going to be held this Sunday in J’Bourg and there are a couple of artist performances including Chameleon, Kelly Rowland, D’Banj, 2 Face, Samini, Krotal, Kwesta, among others that are lined up for the pre-show. Chameleon will be the only East African artist gracing the world cup stage and its definitely going to increase his fan base and world wide promotion . Word on the streets is that he will be performing this new track with Beenie man “Here We Go”, then do “Vumilia” after which all the artists will team up to sing “Everywhere You Go”.
This song which was just offficially released a few weeks ago, was produced by Drain based in Jamaica and Ugandas’ Paddy and was recorded in December when Beenie Man was in Uganda for the Chamuka gig. On this club banger that will surerly rock the clubs all over, Chameleon, the “Basiima Ogenze Star” and Beenie Man the “Dancehall King” trade verses for a perfect summer “Uganda-Jamaican” anthem. The video should be out real soon.
Kudos to everyone involved in organizing the touranment and making it such a success.
LET THE BEST TEAM WIN COME SUNDAY!!!!
Enjoy

P-Unit – KArE (feat Mimo) (GetMziki Exclusive ***)
P-Units album is finally complete and should be hitting the stores (itunes also) in the next few weeks. I personally cant wait to meet these cats in person. I can’t wait for the US tour, I know it will be challenging for Kenyan promoters to support flight and accomodation for 3 artsts and a manager but I think the quality put into this album and they type of work these guys put out – SOMEONE somewhere better come up with a bright idea of how to get P-Unit in the US.
One of the few reasons I am persistent on getting to see P-Unit live is mainly because I feel like they haven’t let me down so far. Every song every rhyme, every video, every freestyle has just been quality delivery. To top that off with this single release to push the album – I just think its time. I think this is one group that I can listen to the entire album from start to finish. It also helps when you think that Musyoka (Decimal records) is behind the entire initiative.
P-Unit have been known to pioneer or invent new lingo/words sheng terms such as Iko Juu, Iko down e.t.a. Now with this KArE hit am left aloof… Am not sure what it means but this song is a sure shot – BANGER. Play this a few times before you pass judgment. Musyoka is a true production genius, put a genius producer with some talented lyricist and you get mega hits like this one..
Enjoy

Bracket Feat 2Face- Yori Yori Remix (GetMziki Exclusive)
I have been MIA for a while now taking care of some business, but we are back now. Thanks to Leo, Alvin and Louis for taking care of all the updates.
I got this track like 3 weeks ago and although we showcased it on the “Homepage“, many people go directly to the blog and most likely might have missed the song.
I showcased the original Bracket “Yori Yori” way before it became a hit and people everywhere have been going wild when this song comes on. I’m really glad they came out with the remix which features Naija heavyweight 2face who did a couple of tour spots in the US a few months ago, since although the original is a banger, after so many spins and after every other Dj playing this track 2-3 times a night, the song has really been “overplayed”. This remix has been out for like 3 weeks now and its already on the charts in major Naija radio stations.
My sources tell me that Bracket is actually gearing up for the release of thier second album and the ” Yori Yori” remix is the first single off the album. This song was produced and recorded at Giant Beats Studios, Abuja by hit producer Dekumzy. The remix is a different song altogether and features a new beat plus 2Face on the track. I wanna see if djs jump on this track just like they did the other one.
Enjoy!!!!!

Kikuyu Lover – Give Me Another Chance (GetMziki Exclusives *)
When I was in Kenya I had the opportunity of working with some very interesting people. Mostly when I worked at Capital FM. One such interesting soul is a lady called NANA! who works with the capital production and research team. Nana has an interesting sense of humor amongst other incredible talents and qualities but the fact that this track was inspired by her, I thought it was important to share this banger considering she sent it to me ages ago.
I think the essence behind this track is that the one man guitar show can eventually go main stream. I am not sure what that means but clearly this Kyuk sang the whole track in English. As it is we really don’t know who sang this song or what the title of the track is. However to make this long weekend humorous i decided to upload this track – especially after Ghanas tragic loss I really need something to up my mood.

Bwana Misosi Feat Jua Cali – Hauwezi Jua
I get tons of records from artists and producers and it sometimes takes sometime for me to sort through the tracks. This is one of those tracks I received like 2 months ago but I haven’t really had a chance to post.
This is the first time we are featuring Bongo artist Bwana Misosi on GetMziki. Joseph Rushahu a.ka. Bwana Misosi is well known in East Africa and his former big hits include “Nitoke Vipi”, “Mabinti wa Ki-Tanga” “Heshima” and many more. This is the first single on his third studio album. He released his first album “Nitoke Vipi” in 2004 and 2 years later released his second album “Kazi Yangu”that had anthems like the classic Walisema ft. Jose Chameleone, Misosi ft.Inspector Haroun and Heshima ft. Redsun.
On this new single produced by Fishcrab Records super producer Lamar and featuring Jua Cali , they talk about how people would behave differently if they knew what the following day was going to turn out like. They talk about having positive attidues even if someone is having “bad” day. Is it only me but is Lamar producing 90% of the bongo anthems right now!!!
Keep on bringing the heat Lamar!!!
Enjoy!!!!!

Matisyahu Feat Nameless – One Day (GetMziki World Cup Feature)
The biggest sporting event is going to kick off in a few minutes and we here @ GetMziki want to take this opportunity to wish all the teams representing Africa all the best.
The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Album “Listen Up” has been out for a while now and the album features artists like R. Kelly, the Soweto Spiritual Singers, Shakira, Nneka, Angelique Kidjo, Wyclef, John Legend, Pitbull, TKZee, a special mesage from Mandela and many more. I really have mixed feelings about the album after they failed to include K’Naans “Waving Flag”.
One song that stood out for me was this song by Matisyahu Feat Nameless – “One Day”. Matisyahu is an international superstar that is most recognizable for being an orthodox Jew known for blending traditional Jewish themes with Reggae, rock and hip hop sounds. He is most recognizable for his single “King Without a Crown”, which was a successful Top 40 hit. Though a reggae superstar, he certainly does not look the part. Far from the dreadlocked Rastafarian reggae archetype, Matisyahu is a unassuming, lanky, bearded Jewish man in traditional dress (often, a black wool suit and a wide brimmed hat) who would look more at home in a synagogue than at a concert.
There are many version of this song floating around with even Akon on one of them and for the Organisers to pick the version with Nameless speaks volumes on the progress Kenyan music is making. Kudos to everyone involved in the project!!!!
Enjoy “One Day”
It’s time to get your Vuvuzelas ready. Go Africa!!!

Quick Rocka Feat Q-Jay – Bullet
This song is not new but has been riding strong in the streets of Tanzania for a while now. It’s one of them songs I call “street anthems”. My promise to everyone in 2010 was to introduce people to “new artists” that were slowly but surely grinding hard. All I’m gonna say is remember the name, “Quick Rocka”.
Quick Rocka a.k.a MR FAST is an upcoming young rap star from the streets of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Starting his journey at the tender age of 14, Quick Rocka now 19 has stunned many older more mature and established rappers at his school whenever he performed in various talent shows. Accompanied by Chieph, Mo’ and Dau, the boys formed a crew by the name of THE ROCKAZ. They agreed upon an identical name “ROCKA” preceded by their nicknames so as to show their personal identities and uniqueness within the group. The Rockaz released their first single ROCKAZ ANTHEM early 2009. The song was well received and performed well on the local charts and officially marked the the foursome’s arrival into the index of Tanzania’s elite rap artists. Quick Rocka was noticed by MJ Records and signed almost instantly, following an explosive radio interview that impressed the CEO of the record label. Under MJ Records, Quick Rocka is composing a solo album and his first single from that album is BULLET(Courtesy of Manorionline)
Some of his lines on the first verse summarizes who “Quick Rocka” is
“Kwenye hii game nasafisha nakomaa kisanii,
Kama Quick Rocka ndo nawika nani hanisikii, (weeee!)
Kama unaifeel track keep it real,
Play it don’t stop thats the deal,
Kama hunipendi i don’t mind just chil,
Lakini naamini one day utanifeel”
Enjoy!!!
