Bobby Mapesa – Stima Zime Kam (GetMziki Exclusive ****)

Bobby Mapesa

As we get ready to do this annual GetMziki musical wrap up for 2010, which will probably be the first of its own kind in over 3 years of this sites existence, I cant help but feel like there is nothing compelling to talk about or to write about. I look at the musical landscape over the last 12 months and I feel like there have been very few hits and very few relevant artists out there in the market place.

But as I contemplate the longest article in the history of GetMziki, I get this song last night and my face lights up like a light bulb. Truly I couldn’t help it but switch the song from my pc to my ipod to play it over and over and over again. The beat is sick and the lyrics comfortably support the crazy harmonies on the track. I can hear a piano in the background and a cool synthesizer – what the producers did with the screams and shouts (hollaring) on the track was also kinda cool. But mostly its just Bobby’s flow – I cant explain it, the kid just has an interesting way of rapping that completes me.

If you listen to the previous track we posted,Gwara Winch I am sure you will agree with my ears. To me personally I think the video was an injustice to a song that I think has so much potential. But who cares anyway – if the sound is ill – who is watching the video? ha ha… Boomba is always up to some cool stuff I love it…. Play this one loud.

Bobby Mapesa – Gwara Winch

Bobby Mapesa – Gwara Winch (GetMziki Exclusive ***)

This track dropped sometime this month and we’d been trying to holla at Bobby Mapesa because this SHENG definitely surpasses our knowledge. Thats one of the biggest disadvantages of growing old and growing old while living outside Kenya. I feel like my Sheng is so out dated. I really wanted to say ” Maze sheng yangu ni ya tene” Honestly .. What is “GWARA WINCH WINCH”. uwongo mbaya mimi ni msee wa mtaa lakini hii ime nipita kinyama mzeiya. Moving on swiftly.

Before I embarass myself further I will keep it simple. The fact however is this is a dope ass song. Delivery is tight, beats are tight and the street lingo/cred is on point. I’ve always been a fan of Bobby Mapesa since tuko Mbele, and Kamoja… So its not a surprise that am hooked on this track.

Brand New: Syd feat Bobby Mapesa – Uta Do

This is not necessarily a new song, but Amby sent it over a few weeks ago together with the video attached. If am not wrong Syd was under Ted Josiahs camp at one point or the other (Blue Zebra) its been a while since I kept up with the local gossip columns however this track is surely a testament that he is still alive and relevant.

Bobby Mapesa is from the bugz and we featured him on a previous track here afew months ago. Collectively I think the pair makes this Uta do track interesting. The beat isn’t really like anything Mandugu Digital would do – meaning its missing the bounce. But its still an interesting worthy track to put on high rotation.

We apologize the track wasn’t linking well before but thats all resolved now

Brand New: Bobby Mapesa – Tuko Mbele

Brand new music from Bobby Mapesa, truthfully I have no info on this artist but the song definitely deserves a few rotations. Some fresh new beats from Kenya. Ive heard his name being dropped here and there but I’ve never really seen or heard his material prior to today.
