Calvo Mistari (Lyrical Assassins) Feat. Wyre & Opip – Chapi (GetMziki Exclusive ***)
It appears each month there is a new dance emerging in Kenya, talking to Calvo I realize that this whole CHAPI CHAPI is actually a dance in Kenya thats apparently big. I remember going to F2 just to get a better understanding of what the Mosquito dance was and all these other chinese, kangaroo and kuku dance was all about.
Anyway this is some new music from Calvo Mistari feat Wyre and Opip. Personally I like the beat, the beat is on FIRE. Somewhere before I even learned the production I knew this had Musyoka written all over it, unfortunately because there are so many producers in Kenya right now its so hard to find one Producers signature sound – so I wasn’t sure. However I think there is a way that Musyoka uses harmonies or the organ to bring some emotion to a track. Certain elements of this track bring that in to just make it a dope beat.
Thankfully Calvo doesn’t disappoint on his verse as well as the hook from Wyre – everything just come together happily. Opip’s delivery was also okay…. The track is a feel good track and I think it gets a nice warm fuzzy spot in my iPod. As I understand this is part of the upcoming “Madaraka Madness” album that Lyrical Assassins has been working on. And just in case you are wondering the video was shot by Ogopa DJs.

Instrumentals Updated: Sikupenda Kwangu, Niko Poa, Mishuma…09/30/09

I have to apologize to you guys since we have been slightly slow in posting hits this month (Sept), its not because we don’t have the music, its mostly because we have been caught up with maisha so trying to reorganize life in order to get back to posting songs on a regular is becoming a challenge. We also have been looking for a contributor from Kenya because we need someone who is in the know about whats happening with all these local artists and the new music coming in from Kenya. We need your help (send info to leo@getmziki.com)
So far we have Naija and Tanzania on lock, we will soon launch both sites before the end of the year. We have enough music from both countries to support two new independent sites. Don’t worry you will still be able to get all those songs here. However I also have a lot of instrumentals I have been sitting on that I will try to share over the next few weeks. Lets see if we can start with this first batch.
Thanks for making us the number one destination for hot new East African urban music.

Brand New: Carl the Truth feat Calvo Mistari – Yule Kijana

I’ve been getting a lot of emails lately about the Dallas Memorial festivities, its amazing how folks in Dallas start planning like 30 months ahead of time. he he he. That being said this year seems like Dallas is going to have some heat… But it appears that before Memorial there is an upcoming Easter party that is bound to break the grain – The Easter Extravaganza
Through those emails there have been a few artist names being thrown around one of which includes Cal the Truth. I haven’t really gotten a chance to sample his work and or make a formidable opinion so I will let you guys be the judge. Let me know what you think about this debut track featuring Calvo from Lyrical Assassins
