Hussein Machozi Feat DNA – Full Shangwe (Remix)

To start off this post, I would like to thank everybody who replied on the “Files not found” snafu we had this past week. We appreciate your input!!!!!
We have featured Hussein Machozi on GetMziki before with his song “Kaffia Ghetto”. Ok, I must admit I did’nt expect the comments on that post to exceed 30, but I appreciate everyone who took their time to voice their opinion. On this song, Hussein Machozi enlists DNA from Kenya for a perfect collabo. When artists do remixes, they sometimes sound forced or just spoil the original versions structure. However on this collabo the song final remix version, is a sure banger!!!!!.
I really commend the engineer who did this song’s mixing since, the couple of adlibs of DNA on the song where he goes like “yeah, sawa, twende” holds the listener waiting for DNA’s perfect rap bars where he starts off with “Nikiwa kwenye fani babu full mzuka” and delivers tons of punchlines. Perfect TZ and KE collabo. Enjoy!!!!!

Brand New: DNA – Lets Go (Get Mziki Exclusive)

Rumor has it that DNA and Jomino are beefing major. I dont know maybe our readers from Kenya can shed some more light into this. I was unable to get DNA for a comment on that story and or even Jomino – but what thats done is spiraled a new wave of talent and exploration in the form of this hit here…
Specially requested by so many people – LETS GO produced by ULOPA Ngoma.
enjoy

Eiih! – DNA (GetMziki Exclusive***)

Am posting this song knowing many people will be like yo Leo this is an old song… but you don’t know how long I have been looking for this track. Maybe I should start a section here called wishlist where people can contribute tracks. (Sadly we cant do that because most of the songs we publish here come from producers, artists and the content owners so we just don’t post songs fwaaaa!!! there is a method to the madness).
That said after dissing Jomino earlier today and saying he is always on the same signature Jomino beat – I cant help but say I love this Ngoma! this is my joint… some random DJ put this track on his mix last year and I kept forwarding to that part. I called the song FROTHO!! kumbe ngoma is called something else Eihh!
DNA killed it on this track – Yo DNA.. Mtu wangu I have been meaning to tell you this is probably one of your best songs for realz… Mo Fayaaaa!! Enjoy the track, am just happy I dont have to murder this DJs mix anymore.

2008 Wrap Up: DJ of the year DJ Edu (BBC 1Xtra DNA)
Often we get asked who we think the best African/Kenyan DJ in the US/UK is. While this is a flattering position and opinion to be requested of us, its not as simple to come up with one individual who is talented, versatile, skilled and well known. There are so many things that go into defining a great DJ vs just a good or a talented DJ.
2008 has been a phenomenal year for many individuals in the US, many people put the title DJ in front of their names and conveniently called themselves DJs. Some individuals teamed up and formed DJ units which in our opinion is a lost cause in this market place, and some individuals chose to travel from Kenya to promote their skills and technique in the US. Either way you look at it from our perspective consistency is the key – and for several years one person seems to stand out as the undoubted winner and DJ of the year. Though we do not showcase a lot of his work here (mainly because he is already well acknowledged and placed in the UK) we listen to his work every week online and constantly appreciate the amount of work put in to each and every mix.
DJ Edu, a homeboyz veteran has been on the music scene for quite a long time, but there is something about Edu that many Kenyan DJs dont seem to get. Edu has figured out a way to corner and master the African market as a whole. Edu doesn’t only play Genge, soul and urban… Edu plays Coupe De Cale, Zouk, Lingala, Soukous, Nigerian hits, Egyptian hits, tonnes of Afro beats. Edu has essentially changed how a lot of people consume African Music in the US and UK. BBC 1xtra is only available online and through DAB in the UK, but you can imagine the number of simultenous sessions per week trying to get a listen off his latest work.
It doesn’t mean that there aren’t any other DJs in the US who advocate and put African music out there, it just means this is one individual that we feel in our opinion has the winning formula year after year. I mean this is one person who in my humble opinion listens to every song he puts on his mixes and then figures out how to create relationships between these songs and other western songs.
We have attached one of his latest shows to close the year 18th Dec 2008 – please pay close attention to the mashups and blends especially the DNA mixes and the Kwaku Mixes… DJ Edu takes the 2008 award for African DJ of the year as far as GetMziki is concerned.

Brand New: Kenrazy, DNA, Kaya – Mziki (GetMziki Exclusive***)
When Danny dropped this track on my laps today, I wanted to sit on it and wait for a little while, but jama!!! the more I listen to this song am amazed at the different talents in Kenya. This track definitely sounds JOMINO-ish (actually very Banjuka reloaded ish). You cant mistake the production style, but needless to say the hook, the flow, the collaboration and the delivery is off the chains.
I am definitely hooked on to DNA’s voice, that cat should have been a radio presenter – deep voiced MC in Kanye “East” Shades, his image has been up to par and he seems to maintain his artist credibility at all times. To me if you are an artists you need to be in character at all times in order to maintain your image – and those white shades were at some point synonymous with DNA (Mr. Banjuka). KenRazy for me still has a lot to do to prove himself as an artists, I drew close similarities between him and JuaCali after Tichi – but consistency has been an issue… Kaya is an artist I am not familiar with but I am hoping with time I will get fairly acquainted with his music.
We have a lot more music ready for December since we want to push all 2008 material out the door before the end of the year. We also will do a countdown for the hottest songs and artists of 2008. But for now enjoy this song – its on FIRE… Play it a few more times..
Usikatsie NGOMAAAAA!!

P-Unit feat DNA – UNA

Paukwa – Pakawa, Jomino of course… I’ve tried to feature P-Unit prominently on this site through out certain segments. Their music style and technique to me seems to spread faster than the ebola virus. Which is funny when I read an article on the Daily nation about their career, and how they only have to hits on the market and seem to be making so much noise and publicity. To date they are known for Si Lazima and Kushoto Kulia.
But the reality to me especially after listening to this track is that they are here to stay. Especially now more than ever, after Musyoka signed them to his new record label and recording studio. (If you all remember Musyoka he is the super producer who works at the Fridge at Homeboyz Studios). Musyoka apparently has set up his own studio can record label called Decimal Records Inc. after completing some Engineering courses in the US (New York actually).
Lets Enjoy this music roller coaster because these cats will be here to stay. I watched an interview with them and Chao from Urban nights Capital FM… and I was thoroughly amused. They seem to have good charisma, good attitude, and most importantly seem to have fun doing what they do.

Brand New : DNA – Kama Kawaida

His acronym name actually stands for Dreams N Ambitions contrary to popular belief that there is some scientific association. DNA and the whole JOMINO crew have had an interesting year, they (or rather he) DNA managed to secure a large contract with the Government of Kenya to supply their theme song Banjuka through the zinduka campaign. Rumor has it, that the types of figures thrown or paid off to license that track were quite large.
Either way – he has been making hits since then, this new track landed on my laps afew weeks ago. It has an interesting flow, but feels more like a Jingle track to me. A fusion of that dirty south sound and some genge – repetitive hooks and some south slur, simple rhymes and lyrics. Either way its a sure shot radio play and I think the stations in Kenya will be going crazy with this one.
The copy I have skips a little in the beginning but quality still on point.
