Jua Cali Feat Qtasi – Vile Nasikia (GetMziki Quick Hits)
We got this track a while back and now just posting it. We have featured Jua Cali on GetMziki a couple of times and there is no point of “reintroducing” him to everyone out there. On this weeks GetMziki Quick Hits we decided to showcase Jua Cali’s new single “Vile nasikia” faturing Qtasi.
I wanna know what people out there think of the track. Enjoy!!!!

Instrumentals Updated: Sikupenda Kwangu, Niko Poa, Mishuma…09/30/09

I have to apologize to you guys since we have been slightly slow in posting hits this month (Sept), its not because we don’t have the music, its mostly because we have been caught up with maisha so trying to reorganize life in order to get back to posting songs on a regular is becoming a challenge. We also have been looking for a contributor from Kenya because we need someone who is in the know about whats happening with all these local artists and the new music coming in from Kenya. We need your help (send info to leo@getmziki.com)
So far we have Naija and Tanzania on lock, we will soon launch both sites before the end of the year. We have enough music from both countries to support two new independent sites. Don’t worry you will still be able to get all those songs here. However I also have a lot of instrumentals I have been sitting on that I will try to share over the next few weeks. Lets see if we can start with this first batch.
Thanks for making us the number one destination for hot new East African urban music.

Jua Cali – Sikupenda kwangu (GetMziki Exclusive ****)

JuaCali is currently working on his third studio album which of course is being produced by Clement Rapudo (Clemo of Calif Records). On September 1st Calif records released this single to the media houses in Kenya and of course us too – I smell an instant hit. Although this is not one of those classic beat ya Clemo tracks (most Clemo tracks will hit you with the kick and snare from the word go – its hard to ignore that infectious beat once the rappers start spitting because Clemo just has a way of arranging beats thats unique and classic – we call it GENGE!!) However I think this track is a creeper.
I call it a creeper because you will slowly like to hate this song – so it creeps up on you. Sikupenda kwangu is just a feel good song, the type of track you just want to listen to and marinate to… Whenever I post Calif based songs I dont like talking too much – I like to let the music do the talking… Enjoy

Brand New: Jua Cali feat Mejja – Bongo La Biashara

Here is a not so new song but as far as this website is concerned it might as well be new. Bongo la Biashara has been an evasive song in our database, each time we got a copy it wasn’t up to our standards and also more importantly it wasn’t complete. Finally we managed to get our hands on something more meaningful (full version).
This is a classic JuaCali track, to have Mejja on this track is a blessing because the two artists are probably the most sought after Genge artists in Kenya currently (or at the time of recording this song). The beat sounds so futuristic like something off a West Coast producer, with the pianos the plug in accordions and the harps. I like the track – but without further due – enjoy the track

Wenyeji feat Jua Cali – Hewa

image courtesy of Jua Cali – Myspace
This is such a random song that I got from Wenyeji a while back, I didn’t think much about it truly at the time. To be honest i don’t really dont think much about it today. But there are some hardcore JuaCali fans and some hardcore Wenyeji fans that have been bugging me out to post more material so I thought I would share this track today.
The collaboration feels like forced partnership, Jua Cali definitely delivered the right hook and the left punch and the jab, but the beat doesn’t keep me wanting to listen to the entire track. Wenyeji have other interesting songs, but to me I wouldn’t say this is one of their best tracks. However to all their fans, here is some new music from Wenyeji (not so new but new in GetMziki terms)

The Game in Kenya // Exclusive Videos
For those who didnt know, the GAME actually was in Kenya courtesy of MTV Base and the Kiss FM team – I hear he shut it down on many levels. Good thing the GAME crew had a camera on site and some of the footage has been sambazwad online… I had to share, enjoy..
ps. I hear GAME cleared like two bottles of Vodo on stage and still managed to go on with the show (owe plus some Kenyan Boza).
pss. THE GAME bringing Kenyan artists on stage was probably one of the BIGGEST things ive seen an international star do in Kenya. Am not saying its never been done before, but I think for a rapper of his caliber to show respect to Jua Cali, Wahu amongst others really changed the mindset for many of us.
Thanks to the GAME crew – and thanks to my peeps at Worldstar hihop for sharing the video
Episode I
GAME IN SOUTH AFRICA
Now normally I wouldnt even trip about concerts in South Africa coz it goes without saying every US artists has been to SA at one point or the other. But GAME continues to overwhelm me with this clip, you can forward until about 6min mark where he lets this kid get on stage and sing his song… THE KID MURDERED .. MURDERED.. Games ends up giving him his chain… SICK.. Africa Stand Up.. this is our time.
Mr Lenny, Jua Cali, Ratatat – Zinduka

Mr Lenny is one of those artists that I have always felt could become explosive if he had the right management, the right team and for most part a little more western exposure. I think he has an interesting voice for our culture and seems to have a way with words and lyrics. Ogopa DJs was responsible for breaking this artists, back in the day when he’d do cameo’s on Nameless songs.
Today he seems to have an unstoppable hook and he character and charisma just add to the soulful music he does everyday. This track Zinduka, features JuaCali, and some chic called Ratatat. The video just came out and can be found on you tube if you want to check it out – but I didnt feel like uploading it.
Enjoy the track!!

Jua Cali – Ngeli ya Genge Video is out
The song has been out for a while now, and is available for download here. But I just got my hands onto the video, which isnt even out in Kenya as of yet (fully). (ps. Kenya has a lot of Video release Bullshit which is almost similar to network ridiculousness in the US, where for instance one popular TV show will get Music videos a week or two before a competing show – and at times they will even deny access to some networks – RANDOM RIDICULOUSNESS) But anyway, thanks to youtube, we don’t have that kind of BS in the US or UK. Videos are on demand.
The Video cracked me up, I cant lie, it looks like a LUCHE production (Luche is actually Clemo’s bro, he does all the Calif Records videos.) If someone gave Luche a serious camera one of these fine days and a strong team, I think his ideas and execution are interesting, but Camera and editing is lacking a little. Either way this video is probably one of the best story lines I have seen in a while.
JuaCali is definitely here to stay.
Brand New: Jua Cali feat Enika – Niimbie (****)

JuaCali is at it again, brand new music from the general of genge himself. In reference to my previous statement on comparing Jua Cali with Kenrazy. I take it all back, these two apples dont come from the same tree. I totally believe consistency is the key to this industry and JuaCali keeps proving time after time that he is here to stay and he is undoubtedly going to be crowned the GENGE king.
This joint is killer, has a good vibe, mellow production style and a good hook from Enika. And Mandugu Digital has killed it yet again, Abrose continues to deliver beats that I just cant seem to get enough of, I think I will change my tag line for Change we can believe in – to JuaCali for president.
Keep feeding the streets with your hot new s$%t.

Jua Cali – Ngeli ya Genge

Its been a relatively good month, we have been blessed to get most of JuaCali’s new joints. This is one of those few tracks that Clemo makes that makes you sit and wonder what was he thinking or smoking. Rumor has it that Clemo was in the same school with Leo (Highway Secondary School – South B).. Whatever the case be, Clemo has really come through on this track.
JuaCali anacheza na maneno – Ngeli ni ya Genge. This is officially the track of the month, I doubt someone will deliver something more exciting than this, this month. Enjoy the track
