Kama – Cant You See (GetMziki Exclusive *****)

There are days I get new music and I sit on the songs so that I can reserve initial judgement. Then there are days like today when Mandugu Digital hits me with a CLASSIC that I cant hold my mouse very long. Real TALK am sambazaing the song roho safi! This song is FIRE – I’ve always known Kama can spit (Ukoo Fulani Mau Mau). Especially after seeing him over and over again on Hip Hop Colony. I am slowly coming to terms with the fact that Mike (the Director of HipHop colony) was up to some good when he hand picked Kama as one of the story tellers in the documentary, because lets face it – this man can spit.
If you are a strong HipHop head like me then you will appreciate this track as much as I am. The sample remind me of Primo (DJ Premier), it feels so New York, yet so Ukoo Fulani MauMau – It feels so gutter, it feels so street, it feels so – Kalamashaka – It feels so KAMA. It feels like real African Hiphop and its wicked. Ambrose big up on the track coz this is a killer sample, its just what reminded me of how much I used to enjoy those You Kay Double Oooo tracks (UK double O – UKOO).. (For the slow guys thats how Ukoo fulani pronounce their group name on their rhymes).
Anyway am just excited today coz its been a while since Ive heard a Powerful song like this one .. So GM fans enjoy –

Brand New: Kama – Untitled Track (Teaser) GetMziki Preview

Kama of Kalamashaka is probably one of the more vocal artists in Kenya. He represents several movements and has been instrumental in mobilizing the youth for a variety of different causes. Conscious rap in Kenya was probably pioneered by people like Kama and the whole U Kay Double O – (UKOO) Fulani Mau Mau. There is always a discomfort with various people when it comes to listening or appreciating conscious rap in Kenya. Most people would rather listen to how some guy messed up some relationship, how people got drunk the night before, or worse how to get with women.
But when people like Kama start talking about the political climate in Kenya and start exposing some of the underlying truths – its been greatly shone away by critics and the youth in general. In the US people like KRS 1 and the whole Mos Def movement has broken to the main stream but its not necessarily commercialized. I mean very few people even know or realize that Dead Prez campaigned against Obama and how that affects the industry as a whole.
Anyway this is a leaked track from Mandugu Digital Studios (Ambrose). It’s still untitled as I got a snippet of it so I figured I should share. The reason I am posting this song is coz Mandugu is smoking some serious BHANGI!!! Anyone who thought we could pigeon hole Amby for the critically acclaimed Bounce beat was WRONG. This is a sampled beat – I could be wrong though coz it feels like I’ve heard it somewhere, but if Amby is behind this production I am totally stocked! so am posting this song to my music heads, Kenyanised, Roddy and crew – who spend equally as much time as I do listening to tracks and trying to decipher.
Is this a hit or miss and is that beat jacked or is this pure genius?

K Shaka Feat Saigon – Hakuna Case (GetMziki Exclusive)

Ok, When I fist got this song the title read “K-Shaka – Hakuna Case” and I was like, a new Kalamashaka song Whoaaa!!. On the first listen I heard Saigon on the first verse (with some small editing ) then the K Shaka crew doing thier thing . So K-Shaka Feat Saigon on a track. Can it get any better!!!. Just by putting straight lyrical artists from 2 continents on the same track makes the song a street classic. This is a song that I consider a street song (Unless they have a clean version out there), that will definitely find a spot on many K Shaka’s and Saigon’s fans cd players. This is definitely big for K-Shaka since I heard they have a new album coming out in 2009 and this song opens up more and better world wide opportunities for them especially with Saigon on the track. “Greatest Story Never Told” !!!!!
