I’d like to make a public apology to someone for sleeping on their music, but in my defense they were not ready at the time. Real talk Kagwe I sincerely apologize and my entire GetMziki crew apologizes for sleeping on this CLASSIC album and your amazing talents.

While we were sleeping and drooling on Just A Band – KAGWE was being born and reinventing himself in that very space we seem to be so fixated on that we believe is re-defining music in East Africa. Afro-fusion, Afro-pop, Urban-soul is just plain ol dope music. I applaud you for attempting to play in this space and actually doing it well. Truthfully I am still listening to the entire album so I cant give a solid opinion yet but I gave you 3 stars because the music is just crazy different and fresh.

To yank a quote that you bit from Coach Carter (that actually is from Marriane Williamson) :

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.’ We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God….”

To be honest sometimes being validated by the world isn’t necessary – in that the fact that we slept on your music isnt really telling of your music, its more telling of how disenfranchised we are as GetMziki LOL.
