This is new audio from Calvo Mistari, Khaligraph & UB titled “Iz Vipi”. Both Calvo Mistari and UB
grew up in the whole Mada/ West Area , which was also my hood and I’ve seen them record at Duplex Studios since I had a working relationship with Lemmy and Stevo at some point. Calvo had the whole Lyrical Assasins movement which to me was something authentic and had a strong niche in the Kenyan and East African musical scene. I believe in artists growing and maturing and developing their musical catalog and not always saying in the same lane, but records like “Chini Chini”, “Chapa ilale”, “Chapi”, and many more still gets tons of spins on my music playlist. I’m also a huge fan of UB and Khaligraph Jones with records such “Tingishwa kichwa” and “Mikono Juu”, “Yego” “Mario” “Shiro” and much more.
The song has been Produced by Dj Kill Bill for an upcoming compilation album titled SxKB (Sounds by KB). KB goes hard on the beat with a Trap Synth and brass lead and some layered kicks and snares to make them powerful and punchy. I was definitely feeling the beat change ups, reverbs and delays throughout the record.
The record is musically and lyrically solid…
You know where I’m going next lol
As hip-hop fans, when we hear a rap posse cut — we have to sit down and assess who had the best verse. It’s just what we do. Who had the best verse.
They did a good job on the video, but I also noticed UB was not featured in the video.
