Kenya’s Kiss 100’s radio queen Kalekye Mumo recently released her new single “My Baby” and for debut records it speaks volumes on her skills. Kaleyke best describes herself and the record..
Ladies and Gents….its about that time that I share some of my hidden talents..
I come from a family of five….three older brothers and a small sister. My parents brought us up in Nairobi – Kabasirani Avenue off Waiyaki Way. Being in Nairobi was no excuse to act snobbish, the value of hard work and the discipline to follow through were instilled as the home was a mini farm with chickens and cows…and we all had to pull our weight and do the duties in the home. With 3 brothers, a world of disses, nicknames was a constant. My sister was born 10years after me…so I had to deal with all the boys drama for a while. When you realized you had passion of music.
My love for music comes from my father, he had records upon records all well kept since his college days in America. By the age of four…I was the entertainment at every family gathering. Singing & dancing along to Boney M much to the embarassment of my mother. By the time I was in standard 4, I was the lead in a musical and the music teacher encouraged me to join the school choir where I soon became the lead singer. I took up piano immediately and got a good backing to my singing skills. One way or another through where music was involved, I was there.
This is a very solid track with great vocals by Kalekye. Music lovers will definitely support this.
